July 30th, 2003 04:07 PM #31C24,
20" rims? eh di syempre naka-lowered yung ST ng friend mo, malamang yun yung cause ng suspension failure.

correction part2: 4.0L V6 po w/ 5speed A/T ang ST not 4.2L V6 (sa F150 4x2).
a friend bought a 32t km 2000 model 4x4 w/ moonroof, rear cargo and cover for P950T 3 or 4 mos. ago. so far he has spent nearly P50T on repairs (suspension, engine, etc). fuel consumption for mixed city/highway 4.7 to 5.4 km/liter. soon to be replaced: aircon evaporator (P25T + labor). weakness daw ito ng ST according to Ford service technician.
If you don't plan to haul anything in the bed might as well get an suv (lc 80, etc.). if you do plan to haul more than 500lbs regularly you'll have to install monroe air shocks (adjustable height and increased payload capacity) quality, driving feel not up to Japanese standards. ride quality is far from 4x4 F150 although a lot better than japanese pickups. cabin shakes and squeaks come from door gaskets. rear aircon marginal.
good luck.
we used to have a 99 F150 flareside V6 4.2LT, we didnt have anyproblems except for the air evaporator!!! good thing under warranty pa siya almost 30,000 ang singil
like i've said if i were you im with ungas right now talking mods to my safari or lc80

July 31st, 2003 12:38 AM #35C24, also, I would like to add that the pre-owned vehicle will come with a warranty. So any problems would probably be covered.

A warranty is not always the best guarrantee. Have you ever tried making a warranty claim? Lalo na kung malaki-laki ang sira, the dealer will almost always try to fight you tooth and nail para mapalabas na hindi nila pwede i-honor ang warranty mo.
When my Kia blew its two front shocks, halos one week ako pabalik-balik sa dealership trying to get them to replace it. Sobrang sama pa ng loob nilang palitan. Ako daw ang may kasalanan kaya nagkaganun yun.

July 31st, 2003 11:20 AM #37Agreed, OTEP.
Pero wala na akong paki kung masama yung loob nila, basta ma-claim ko yung warranty.

July 31st, 2003 11:32 PM #39kiper,
If ever maging interested ako sa off-roading, kamusta yung performance ng ST's sa off-road?

As with most 4x4's today, madali sumabit ang side steps niya so better take them off. You won't need them anyways.
I don't know if the ST has skidplates underneath. Medyo mahaba ang pwet niya so be careful. Parang Pajero din ang departure angle niya which is to say, not very good.
