my f150 had almost 100,000kms on the odometer when i sold it and it was flawless mechanically. and i drove this truck HARD. i took it off road, up rivers, into bangus fish ponds and did a lot of mudding, plus it had 33 inch tires.

if maintained properly, they are great. kung tinipid ang maintennance, patay ka sa gastos.

if you can afford the gasoline and the regular maintennance and you can find a low mileage unti that you know has been taken cared of, the expedition is a good buy, considering the low resale value.

i was so impressed with my f150 that i got a 2007 expy when i moved to Cali

mga bossing, thank you very much for giving me points to ponder. i'm inclined na sana for an expy na box type (gen. 2 nga ba ng expy range un?) pero i'm going to take a pause muna and assess things pa uli.

    more power nga tsikoteers! Peace!

i had the pleasure of driving an expedition in the united states for an interstate drive. it was a 2007 XLT model with the 5.4 liter V8 and 6-speed AT.

boy, what a tank. i felt like the king of the road. at least, until a toyota tundra and an even more gigantic expedition EL pulled up beside me. but it was pleasantly easy to drive even in the quiapo-like streets of the Big Apple. The engine note is classic V8 bass and it's wonderful with the windows down (not recommended in smoggy manila!). Good power. Fuel economy on the interstate was about 21 mpg, pretty good for such a big truck. In New York City traffic, well, let's just say that the needle dropped a few notches in just an hour of sitting in terrible traffic jams! So in manila, better make sure you own a gas station.

space is excellent for all eight seats, comfort in the first two rows is supreme. with the third row down, as how we used it, the cargo bay was just huge and swallowed all of our suitcases without having to stack them one on top of each other. for hauling and airport duty, this is an excellent choice.

good ride comfort too on the highway. all my passengers promptly fell asleep and they commented on the smooth ride, which must mean that it was really good since they weren't car-savvy people who really notice something with a car unless it was truly remarkable. handling was certainly reasonable given the size and weight of this brontosaurus, although the wheel was a bit numb and the steering tendered to wander on the highway, requiring constant correction in straight-line driving.

all in all, a pretty good truck! the new Tahoe and Suburban appear to be even better, though.

Expeditions are really cheap secondhand. But be wary of transmission issues and air suspension issues. You can chuck the air suspension if it starts to become problematic, but if the AT has been improperly maintained or abused, you start that long slow dance with the mechanics that invariably ends up with you selling your kidney to them to fix it. (not that all mechanics are evil... ...it's just an expensive thing to fix.) Buy carefully.
how do you determine if AT has been improperly maintained?

and how do you know if air suspension is dead? and how do you chuck the air suspension?

I used to have a '99 Ford Expedition XLT. 4.6L with rear air suspension. Space, ride comfort and power were great. Handling, well, a little too boaty for me, but then, that's not a major gripe. Fuel consumption, now that is. At least with the way I drive. 5 Km/L is a luxury for me. In mixed city/highway (Alabang-Makati-Alabang), I average 3.5-4 Km/L. But then, with that power and exhaust note, who wouldn't want to free up those horses.

I sold it in '04. Experienced some a/c problems. Evaporator was replaced twice (1st on warranty, 2nd with own pocket). Suspension gave me headaches too. Perhaps due to its weight. Fortunately, the air suspension held up. It was the other parts up front that gave way. Sorry, can't give much detail, coz there were quite a few parts listed on the Repair Order for the a/c and suspension. Perhaps at the time they occured, there weren't too many options aside from casa. And casa was the only one maintaining it.

You can possibly replace it with the standard suspension from a different year model. That's something an owner who's done so can possibly answer. It's an expensive item to fix if it goes wrong.

The transmission... well, you can check the condition of the transmission fluid, for one, and check performance in traffic. If there's hesitation, clunking, surging or strange performance when it gets hot, then those are possible signs its on its way out.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Hi guys kumusta na expeditions nyo??

Sa akin nakapalit na ako ng AC compressor hehehe other than that I think 2 tire sensors and bulbs land sa brake light since 2004. Aside from the regular comsumables.

Every weekday it's in service and so far ok naman pa.

LADYTRUCK I see you now have a C300 2008 Out of topic lang heheheh Oks ba ito? Hope it's problem freeeeeeeeee.
