February 22nd, 2009 12:37 AM #1012Onwer of a 2002 model here, the common problems that you have to look out for: (which I think isnt isolated too my unit since I have friends and also those who posted in this thread who have the same problems)
1.Fuel Pump - sign is usually hard starting,20th for the whole fuel pump,or 5th for a part
2.Check Engine Sign - only a sensor problem,dont panic,around 5th I think)
3.Rear wiper motor - gonna cost you 10-15th to replace
4.Window motors - here was a time one window wasnt operating, but when started the engine again it was ok,never had the problem again
5.Cheap plastics (as in toy quality plastics) - the one where I place my shades has broken off,the cup holder cover spring broke off, paint chip s on the interior
Thats all the problems I had in mine, had them all repaired and now I have no problems whatsoever,Only 40th KM so far, since we practicaly didnt use it for about 5 years, & had only 7th KM.only started using it around 2007.
This SUV makes me feel like a politician & for some reason jeepnies or even buses dont cut into my lane as much as when I bring a car hehe

did you replace the drier attached to the compressor together with the air bags? its usually advisable to replace the drier as mositure will enter the system when the airbags are replaced. your compressor might give up due to the moisture in the system. the compressor costs 21k at mazford

March 13th, 2009 04:26 PM #1014good afternoon sirs, just want to share, i have a 2001 expy, recently the backdoor and lift glass cables broke and left it inoperable. Ford in ghills quoted me 6 thou for the door cable and 2400 for the lift glass cable, labor to cost around 2400.. Friend of mine recommended a small shop along sshiway, after pasay road (heading towards magallanes) and had both cables replaced for 1,800 only ( parts and labor). laking tipid and it is now more than a month and works fine. also noticed that the cables they placed were not only thicker but more pliant.mukhang mas matibay than the orig. rgds

nasira aircon ng 2nd gen expy namin, bigla nalang nawala yung lamig. napansin ko di nag eengage yung compressor, at first kala ko bumigay na compressor, relay daw ang nasira. 2k for relay, plus yung tok tok tok problem sa rear aircon, actuator daw sira, plus labor 2k. total of 6k.
wala pang 15k kms tinakbo ng expy, pero 6 years old na, twice a yr lang luamlabas ng garahe. acceptable na ba na masira ang aircon? I know na sirain talaga ang expy.

twice a year lang ginagamit??? wow, swerte ka at hindi pa bumigay mga ibang parts nyan.cars need to be used at least once or twice a week, lalung lalo na yung aircon, at least turn it on for 10 minutes (minimum) a week, mas mabilis masira ang aircon pag hindi ginagamit. and i thought bihira ko ng gamitin si expy ko since twice a week ko lang ginagamit. contrary to what people think, hindi naman sirain ang expy, TLC lang kailangan nya.

April 17th, 2009 10:54 AM #1019good morning gentlemen. i am a long time lurker of tsikot and this site has been a source of very good information.
pls allow me to post this querry here. i have gone thru this thread twice just to make sure that it hasnt been discussed. wala akong nakita so eto yung tanong ko...
i am about to buy a friend's expy. it's a 99 model 4x4 with more than 100k kms on it. my friend drives it everyday and has complete casa records. here are my questions:
1) at this mileage, ano ba ang mga PMS na kailangan gawin (parts na kailangan palitan) and approx cost?
2) every how many kms nagpapalit ng timing belt and how much ito? including the tensioner, bearings, etc.
3) any other things to check besides the air suspension? i know his air suspension compressor has been changed before. yung aircon compressor napalitan na rin. not sure about the ball joints.
4) may control that says 4H, 4L and A. ano po ang "A"? i suppose when u say 4H, it's like saying that it is running like an AWD vehicle?
thanks very much.

someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
