And he has yet to find out what the other problem$$$ are when he finally gets it to start 4-5 days from now.

About a month ago, I just replaced the brakepads, a power window switch, and it cost me around P22k. Now it's another 20k++.

Jeez owning this Expe sure is getting pricier and pricier.
brakepads and a switch, 22K? are there no replacements brakepads for the expy? something like the bendix brands we put in our hondas when we don't want to pay the equally atrocious 6k OEM honda pads?

all parts Ford talaga? even oil filters and air filters?

whew... i'm beginning my hunt for a good expy... and while i'm well aware of the fantasticaly high running costs, i haven't though about the regular consumables being purely ford supplied...

I forgot, the aircon and side mirrors switches were replaced as well in my previous 22k service bill. Here's the breakdown:

    A/C Actuator XPC 03 - 2,585
    Side Mirror Switch - 1,011
    Brakepads Set XP 03 - 12,325
    A/C Repair - 1,680
    Brake Repair - 1,680
    Shop Supplies - 150

    + 12% VAT = 21,762.72

I'm sure there's a cheaper alternative workaround for the brake pads replacement, but as my unit was already in the casa at the time, I decided to go OEM.

Yes, as far as I know, oil, fuel and oil filters are also casa supplied. Again, I'm sure there are Banawe available parts, if you're willing to find them.

Considering that my XP has been around for almost 6 years now, and the only significant costs have so far been that one and this new one for the fuel pump and other stuffs that I am already dreading, I would say it's kind of ok overall. Of course a Japanese SUV wouldn't have cost you this much, but this is kind of the cost of ownership for this particular SUV.

For Expeditions, the entrance fee is cheap. Owners aren't as big time as you would think. I got my XLT for only P2M in 2003, only about P300k more than a Fortuner costs today. Aside from the infamous gas-guzzling, it's the maintenance cost that will definitely sting you down the line.

SO for those looking to buy one, be advised.

Despite the high maintenance, despite the low resale value and despite being gas guzzlers, I think it is the comfort, safety and probably prestige that keep us drawn to our trucks. These are the features that comes with the price.

    g-daddy,
ford casa (or any other casa's of other makes) do charge an arm and a leg for maintennance. I only go to casa to fix complicated repairs, and even then, i source my parts (oem motorcraft) and then bring it to casa to have the mechanics just install it. mazford in banawe is one of the reputable and reasonably priced shops for oem parts for our expy. my brakepads (oem motorcraft) only costs about 5k for the entire set and i just have my mechanic replace it.

contrary to what other people think, not all expy owners are bigtime, if you know where to look for parts, servicing an expy costs almost the same as any large japanese suv. with the added bonus of a cheaper cost of entry

owning an expy "as the mastercard ad says, is priceless" for an out of town vehicle and for ferrying your precious little ones, its got space, comfort and safety all rolled into one. a big bonus is the prestige factor, i haven't recalled being pulled over in my expy hehehe, plus the price compared to cars of the same class can be considered "bang for the buck"

I agree. I just bought a piece of suspension airbags from mazford and they carry a replacement part. if i got it from the casa (original), it's 21k each. from mazford the same part costs 16k each. the replacement part only cost 9,500. i just had my mechanic install it for me. easy. you don't have to be bigtime at all.

    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a used Ford Expedition, 1999-2002 model... what flaws should I look out for when canvassing for a good deal?

Any known mechanical problems with the expe?

I've got one as 1st choice - 2002 model, A/T, 55T kms, cream leathers, tv monitors for P650,000... is this a good deal?

    Thx :D

Anybody know where I can buy leather seat covers for my 03 Expe?

I know there's another thread here, and there I suggested Kelseat, but there seems to be no way to contact them apart from their website. They don't respond to email, and there are no numbers.

The telephone numbers in the white pages are all out of service. Nag sara na ba ang Kelseat?

Anyway, any suggestions for leather seat covers in the Banawe area?

    Thanks guys.
