Some of you may not be familiar with this butter loaf-shaped stagecoach, but the Flex is actually the first crossover vehicle from Ford to be infused with a minivan's attributes and an SUV's capabilities. Sold only in the United States, Canada, and Saudi Arabia, an updated model is set to debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show and looks like it’s ready to show off some muscle.
The 2013 Flex underwent a sandpaper-spree to crisp out its boxy edges, making it rounder and somewhat smoother. Its front fascia was then revamped with a chrome-accented front grill, headlights, and bumper, while the rear hatch receives a stamped-metal accent. And when all this is mated to a chocolate-brown paintwork and a white roof, it turns the Flex into a retrolicious ride.
An entry-level variant gets you a 285 horsepower 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 that's promised to be 0.5 km/L more efficient than the pre-updated block. But there's always Ford’s popular 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in the line-up for those who need that extra muscle that packs 355 horses and 474 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmissions and electric power-assisted steering for improved fuel economy and lower emissions.....
