That video is actually fake news. That's the previous gen 2014-2019 Toyota Highlander. Toyota's competitor for the Honda Pilot, and Ford Explorer.

I'm not saying it will fail. pero mauuna siguro yun bago masira yung Turbo and CVT ng Territory

And mas concerned ako sa head unit.

Nagsisimula na akong mainis sa HU ng car ko (less than 2 years old)
Yung HU din ng friend ko, Mazda 3 halos di na nya magamit sa bagal.
That's why im a bit wary of well integrated HUs there's no upgrading when it gets dated and probably more expensive to replace than regular 2din units when it breaks however i doubt that happens that often.

The Territory uses Punch Powertrain's VT5 CVT. The first gen BMW MINI from almost 2 decades ago used the VT1 CVT. So 5th gen?

Although not a CVT, the new gen hybrid PSA Group (Peugeot-Citroen) models will use Punch Powertrian's DT22 dual-clutch transmission.

A quick Google search shows the company is headquartered in Belgium with plants in Nanjing and Ningbo.

The New MG ZS in China also gets the CVT (it replaces the old 4-speed AT), expect it to show up here eventually.

The Territory's 1.5 Turbo makes 225Nm of torque, the CVT it uses was rated for engines with up to 280Nm of torque.

Parang CVT lang yan. Inherently less durable than old school AT pero thousands of Vios are running the streets with it, many with high mileage and hindi naman mataas failure rate.

Ganun din sa lahat ng ibang tech - pag ginamit na ng mainstream manufacturer yan, typical perception is mature enough na yung tech. Which is why Toyota is typically slow to offer the latest engine/transmission tech - what's available now works well and lasts long, so they go for something newer only when it's as durable as well. They won't risk their equity just to be first-to-market with unproven tech.

Dunno... it seems the failure rate of turbo engines are pretty low too. It’s just that there’s a real but slight chance of super knock happening but its pretty random and rare, and new oils are now made specifically to prevent that. In other countries that uses mostly turbos now such as UK and to some extent, the US, there doesn’t seem to be any uproar concerning turbo engines failing.

Also... Toyota uses a 2.0L turbo engine with their some of their Lexus models...

In other markets like in Japan, the Corolla and C-HR can be ordered with a 1.2 liter Turbo option with a CVT.

First time to see the prototype testing at Ford's You Yangs Proving Ground in Australia.

Interesting that it's using the skinny base model tires (not offered in export markets).

Maybe the Base model tires got ruled out in testing which seems to be for stability control?
