    Hi,

Saw an ad is OLX, ford is offering 400k discount for the 1.6 SE model.
    Is this a good buy?
    Any major and minor issues?
How is the FC and maintenance cost?
Planning to keep it for more than 5 yrs in case we push though with the purchase. TIA.

Oks naman yung Escape. The 1.6 Ecoboost (turbo) SE model offers decent performance. Isa sa mga choice namin eto. Ford Makati offered us 0 DP (as in no cash out) for the unit, mainly due to the discount. Medyo may concerns lang kami sa outward visibility, dami blind spots. Yung seats ng SE model, cloth only but of the sturdy kind (not soft) so di masyado dumihin.

No question on engine performance as I own a Fiesta Ecoboost and Ford turbo engines can be very lively if you have a lead foot. Fuel consumption is also dependent on driving habits. If you keep that turbo spooling on traffic, be prepared for something like 5-6 km/L on average in city driving routes. On the highway, Ecoboost engines are very fuel efficient if you keep the car cruising along.

Ford maintenance cost is entirely dependent on your dealership of choice. Ford Manila Bay, Ford Makati, and Ford Libis are some of the preferred ones by fellow FordClubPH members. It is comparable to Honda maintenance cost.

New Ford cars are built solidly and the nifty features inside are quite useful. If the Escape Ecoboost fits your needs and the whole package appeals to you, go for it. The discounts are big enough against its competitors.

    ******* ad -- Ford Escape 1.6 SE 1.099M

The ad is probably misleading. Maybe you can't get the 1.099M if paying in cash, only if through financing.

You can check with the sales agent as to how much discount they offer for straight cash payments. They would jump on any sales they could have just to clear their inventory.

Thanks for input. I asked an SA from Ford Makati and the cheapest price they can give is 1,059,000. SA asks to request a PO, so I guess same price for cash and PO transaction.

Still having second thoughts because of the FC is the 5-6kpl range is rush hour traffic and cannot be any lower? But in terms of safety features it has almost all of them.

That's a bargain for such a price. It's like paying for a midtrim compact nowadays. PO transactions are similar to cash though some dealers wait for the PO to clear before they release the unit.

The Escape SE uses a 1.6L Ecoboost turbocharged and direct-injected gas engine. Max torque is already available at below 2k rpm. If you can keep the engine running before the turbo spools, you might be able to get better fuel efficiency. Ecoboost engines start to spool their turbos just before the tachometer hits 2k rpm so don't expect low fuel consumption if you have a lead foot. Ecoboost engines are quite efficient on the highway.

Most other CUVs will be consuming about the same amount of gas in heavy, bumper to bumper traffic. Having the extra power and torque available is added value as the 1.6L Ecoboost produces almost the same amount of power but with more torque compared to CUVs powered by 2.5L NA engines.

seriously considering the escape because of this discount.

biggest apprehension ko lang talaga are the horror stories of the Ford Casas. And with this model of escape not as common yet --- no choice but sa casa ipa gawa. To add to this... am not even sure the casa knows how to fix this one. Given that no one seems to be buying it.

is this discount worth taking the risk?

at that price it will seriously affect Ford ecosport's titanium model.

parang mali ata strategy nila, the reason why all the CUV market is down is because of the ecosport which is also their own product

tucson, sportage, crv, rav4, forester, xv, xtrail, cx5 all down because gasoline are never efficient in traffic

I sparingly drive a 2005 Ford Explorer eddie bauer, would you beleive i get that FC too at 5km/liter hehe. di na ako kelangan pa bumili ng mga cuvs. my secret, I replaced all my suspension replaceables all at one and bought a 245 stock tire na westlake na tig 4k lol

na-discover ko ito sa mga gas Cuv , kahit ano brand pa wheter 2L or V6, it all falls down to the 5-7km/liter FC sa AT

kaya di na ako nag-look back pa sa cuv, so many models i missed since 2005, third gen crv, 4th gen crv, previous gen tucson and sportsge.

korean, japanese, american gasoline cuv, all same FC when it comes to bumper manila traffic

dami marketing lingo ngaun skyactiv ng mazda, ecoboost ng ford, econ ng honda. all worthless sa manila traffic.
