^^^ As per the Autoindustriya article, the 1.6L Ecoboost to be released on the Escape 4x2 is rated at 178PS at 5700 rpm, 250Nm at 2500 rpm. Not the 182HP model but still good enough at 175HP. That's way better than the 2.0L NA engines that the competition offers. With Ecoboost, the more important thing is the ample torque offered at lower RPMs plus the overboost at 5k rpm (in case you feel like flooring the pedal).

With the 2.0L Ecoboost model, it offers a good competition to the Forester XT. The question now is how well the Escape 2.0L Ecoboost 4x4 handles and behaves compared to the FXT.

Hard to compete with the FXT, but maybe the 1.6 Ecoboost can give the other 1.5M CUVs a run for their money. Hopefully handling and kit is nice.

I've only seen one in the flesh, it's not as handsome as a RAV4 or striking as a Forester/CX5. It blends in the crowd..which isn't a good thing if you ask me. Toyota actually made a more exciting car than Ford...

I have already seen the new Escape in the flesh back in July. I have seen 2 in Makati but both of them had diplomatic plates. Last week, I saw another new Escape with diplomatic plates in the service area of Ford BGC. The new Escape looks like the big brother of the Focus. Car and Driver says that the new Escape drives like a giant Focus with a higher center of gravity.

Assuming we get similar models as the ones in the US, both Escape Ecoboost models have the 6-speed SelectShift automatic, similar to the ones on the Explorer Ecoboost models.

Powerful yet frugal. Selling point versus Forester XT.

With a lighter weight compared to the Explorer, the Escape 4x4 with the 2.0L Ecoboost will surely be more economical compared to the Explorer 4x2 2.0L Ecoboost. Not sure though how it compares to the Forester XT 2.0L Turbo with CVT.

All Ford Escapes use a 6-speed SelectShift "torque converter" automatic.

I wonder which one we're getting.
That's for the Euro-spec "Kuga" version.
The Philippines is getting the North American-Ford Escape and its 1.6 EcoBoost only comes in one flavor, the one that makes 178hp (180PS). This is the standard engine of the P1.49M Escape SE.
