The new Escape is a global model, it's part of the "One Ford" strategy.
In some markets it will be called Kuga (Mk2).
The first Escapes sold here were close to the US version.

It was the newer facelifted versions that were unique to the Asia-Pacific market.
With One Ford, the new and upcoming Ford models will be global.

even better with 2.5L TDCi from the Ranger. The Focus diesel has more value because its TDCi is paired with cutting edge 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. The Escape is likely to have the same If they're making a diesel variant.

The 2.5 liter TDCi from the Ranger is a truck engine, it will be replaced by a 150
PS 2.2 TDCi engine in the 2012 Ranger.
Outside North America the 2013 Escape (Kuga Mk2) will most likely be offered with the optional 163PS 2.0 TDCi (available with Powershift) found in the 2012 Focus and outgoing Kuga Mk1.

Maybe the 200hp 2.2L TDCi currently used in the Mondeo would be an option to consider. I believe nobody would miss a gasoline-powered V6 with a 2.2L diesel...
