May 19th, 2009 10:03 PM #203oo nga eh....sayang medyo di nakuha ng Ford Phil. yung market share that they should. they have a heck of a good car sana....
ang problema siguro eh yung price point eh masyadong mataas for normal pinoys....
ang suggestion ko siguro eh a lower end model....
* 5M/T or 6M/T (cheaper than Powershift)
* 1.6TDCi (cheaper than the 2.0li)
might make it alot more affordable....
anyway sarap siguro nung 200hp 2.0li TDCi with twin turbo.....hanep!

The problem is normal pinoys think its an expensive car, but the Focus is actually priced a bit lower than the equivalent Corolla Altis models.
The base 1.8 Style (with an E20 capable 1.8 liter Duratec engine, airbag, ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, split folding rear seats and an AUX audio jack) is priced at only P779K, just P5K more than the Corolla Altis 1.6E which has less features (airbag, ABS, fixed rear seats and drum rear brakes).
The 1.8 Trend (with an E20 capable 1.8 liter Duratec engine, airbag, ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, split folding rear seats, AUX audio jack, fog lamps, rear aircon vents, adjustable front center arm rest) is priced at P799K, thats P24K cheaper than the Corolla Altis 1.6G which by the way still uses drum rear brakes and lacks some of the other details found in the Focus.
You can even get the luxurious 2.0 liter Ghia model for only P999K.Last edited by AG4; May 20th, 2009 at 02:03 AM.

I too hope they bring in the 1.6L TDCI with 6-DSG. Most people don't really need the 2.0TDCI. The Accent, though it doesn't look as nice as the Focus, is doing quite well lately with the taxi sales because people are getting sick (and lung spots) with the LPG fired taxis. I reckon Ford 1.6TDCI would be priced in the same region esp if assembled locally.
Fifth Gear and Top Gear have always praised the good handling of the Focus even from past generation.
Volvo S40 is also a focus right?Last edited by Horsepower; May 20th, 2009 at 06:46 AM.

The current 1.6 TDCi Focus in Europe only comes with a 5-speed manual.
By the way, the 6-speed dual-clutch (sequential shift) gearbox of Ford is called "Powershift", it was developed with Getrag. The "DSG" used by VW was developed by Borg-Warner.
They share the same basic platform architecture (along with Mazda).
The C1 platform was developed in Germany with input from Volvo, Ford and Mazda engineers.Last edited by AG4; May 20th, 2009 at 07:31 AM.

As long as the car can overcome the enduring perception of Ford cars ---guzzlers, "sirain", poor third party parts availability--thus resulting in a low resale value.
