hirap ng tanong mo sir shadow!
para sakin healthy choices and moderation lalu na sa redmeat at fatty foods (once a month lang or even less). 1 cup of rice lang sa meals at more vegetables and fish. sa snacks naman mas ok fruits sakin, banana, apple at kung ano pa ang in season. pwede rin nuts. iwas na rin sa high bad cholesterol foods and fried foods!

Just keep snacks with you at all times.
I'm not a good model for diet plans... but I stay well away from food that can affect my blood sugar drastically. I'm lucky, I guess, that my condition is very mild.
Activities? Work. work work. I also walk a lot. Am starting my exercise regimen again this year (after a ten year hiatus).

have you tried skipping breakfast? by lunch time you are so hungry you get to mcdonalds and supersize everything on your burger meal - fries, soda... and then order some ice cream along the way
thats the reason for 5 or more adequately sized quality meals is to avoid getting very hungry and thus overeating. overeating leads to obesity.
its good to eat some breakfast because it kickstarts your metabolism since you just came from sleep(hibernation). sit turnsoff your fasting mode. so never skip breakfast ;) then again, quality food is the key word there - fiber, wheat etc.Last edited by cardo; October 3rd, 2007 at 02:22 PM.

Naku Sir HP. anything naman that is sobra is bad. When it comes to fruits, kaming mga diabetic ay merong prescribed amount of intakes. For example, we can only eat 1 slice of mango a day, 3-4 pcs of grapes, a slice of melon etc. Ganun lang po ka kaunti! Ang pinaka mataas ang sugar content sa fruits ay ang watermelon! Believe it or not, its much higher than mangoes according to my doctor. Akala ko noon ok lang kase parang tubig lang yun pala eh mas worse pa sa mangga! Ngek!
Mahirap Sir HP pag tumaas ang blood sugar level kase lumalapot ang dugo natin then mahirap mag circulate all over our body kaya nga mahirap mag heal ang mga sugat lalu na sa mga extremities especially sugat sa paa.
Kaya kaming mga diabetic very careful na. Kase pag di kami nag ingat, in 5 years time namin makikita ang effect talaga ng diabetes. Even our footwear nga sabi ng doktor eh dapat very comfortable always because we have to keep the blood flowing. Sa aming mga babae, bawal magsuot ng high heels na matagal or closed shoes na masikip.
Mahirap pero these are the things we have to live with for the rest of our lives as diabetics. But then again, if we have control over it, it is really manageable naman.

Yup... fruits should be limited, but at least we can eat them.
The sugar in fruits is a more complicated type... fructose. Fructose takes much longer to break down than glucose or sucrose (base sugar, often used in candies or drinks), so it provides a much more drawn out "hit" than the sugar "high" you get from softdrinks.

Very high pala on sugar ang watermelon?? hehhe.
Sometimes, pag food trip, i eat more than half a watermelon and a siguro a hundred grapes while watching a movie or meditating infront of the sea.
Akala ko since fruits yun, safe. Di rin pala.
