-- Oh yeah, she then demanded for an extra of those corrugated cardboard belts kasi sobrang init daw ng coffee.

She then proceeded to read Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings, taking what seemed to be split second sips from her draught. All the time, she kept swirling the cardboard coffee tumbler.

An hour later, after my friends and I finished our drink and conversation, we left. I took a brief glance at the girl. She was still on the same chapter of the book (siguro two or three pages lang yung ginalaw). And she was still swirling the cardboard coffee tumbler.

    IMO, that's +100 SOSI points!
I don't see anything wrong with that.

Actually, that's the whole point of Starbucks! Anyone can do whatever they want with their drink! You can take your sweet time to finish your drink and nobody will shoo you away.

A Diner's Club Card would be more of a status symbol especially in that restaurant with no visible cash registers. We didn't have a Diner's Club Card. But a Platinum Visa was good enough. I hope Starbucks doesn't progress to that status! It's also valet parking only. We felt good pulling in with our then dented, unwashed and beat-up 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan.

I'm sure in due time, SB will lose its status as a "sosy" place when the next big thing comes along. I'm surprised it's not a hangout for singles and young adults, though. That's what SB is more like here. It's mostly a hangout for college students.

Maybe the new youth generation really acts this way nowadays goin to Starbucks or other establishments, bringing their high tech gadjets whether students or yuppies without the intention of projecting their social status They just like the ambience or really like Starbucks taste

Here in the P.I., where many people eat only once a day, where the staple food of the masses is instant noodles, having extra money for starbucks coffee is already a status symbol.
