August 6th, 2013 12:17 PM #21me kakilala ung uncle ko, ultimong ice cream sundae, already loaded with toppings, choco syrup, whipped cream, etc., binubuhusan pa ng asukal. Ayun, nauwi din sa diabetes.
Although i think me genetic predisposition din yung diabetes? i think some people a lot of sugar e wala namang nangyayari.
Ang hindi ko sure is, kung wala kang lahing diabetic, then nagkadiabetes ka, ibig bang sabihin that your descendants will be diabetic-prone na din?

diabetes is not entirely about sugar.
its about carbohydrates that are not burned, resulting into sugar.
bottomline.... its rice.
generally, filipino food is about this + salt + fat and oils.
result?
diabetes and heart diseases.

starchy food like rice
carbs get converted into glucose then ends up in the bloodstream
body produces insulin to get the glucose out of the bloodstream into cells
lots of blood glucose needs lots of insulin
high insulin levels over time causes insulin resistance
cells become insensitive to insulin so glucose stays in the bloodstream
that's how type 2 diabetes begins
