Considering the Audi R8 is based on a Lamborghini, it's not surprising...

Since it's techincally half a Gallardo... no wonder it's only half-burned... :hysterical:

Makes you wonder... why don't these guys (who can obviously afford it) just install a plumbed in fire extinguishing system, like the race-cars have? the moment a temperature sensor detects heat over 120 degrees Celsius inside the bay, ***pssssssshhhhhhhhttttt!!!***

niky, in the first place (since you are already clearing paying top dollar for these vehicles), car manufacturers should have installed a temperature sensor in the engine bay and exhaust manifolds of these vehicles.

if they exceed a certain temperature, then just beep a warning light or message in the cockpit. at least it could've warned the driver that's something amiss so that he can turn off the engine or pull over the road to let his engine cool down.

Yeah they really should install an automatic fire extinguisher. Its not hard to do. I've seen locally sold extinguishers with a sprinkler nozzel. Its supossed to work automatically when a certain temp is reached. It even uses HCFC123 (if I remember correctly) so no mess and safe for electrical and electronics system.

That might actually drive customers away.

"And here we have the built-in extinguisher sys..."

"Waitaminute... this car has an extinguisher?"

    "Yessir, it's to..."

"You mean there's a chance this car will catch fire?"

    "Errhh... well..."

"Why should I buy it, then?"

"Because it's got nice italian leather...? Sir? Sir? Wait! Come back!"

    ------

userfriendly: where'd you see this, bro? I'd like to install one in my kitchen... and the upcoming hillclimb series will require extinguishers, too.
