BTT: Mali mali spelling or gawa gawa na ewan na pangalan. It also says a lot about the background of the person.

Pinakagusto kong name yung traditional like Miguel, Ramon, Rafael, Francisco, Victoria, Isabel, Carmen, Margarita etc
as an MD, i frequently have to decipher handwritings. it is easy, if the words are common like miguel, joselito.
but with "off the beaten track" names, it's difficult. FHrancisco, margheruite, Manuelito Manuel (yun pala, Manuel Manuelito). people are very sensitive about their names. philhealth and hospital records are equally sensitive.

Isn't it the other way around doc? :peace:

But seriously I don't understand why parents can't even do a simple research on the correct spelling of names, worse, pag sinadya i misspell A person could get bullied all his or her life because of that.

I am not joking when I say that a colleague married a guy with a bastardized Japanese cartoon character's name (think doraemon that became dhorhaemhon). And they named their child another cringe worthy name. I don't think they are aware that it means "The Cucumber" in English

we have to enter the names into the hospital computer system. we have to go back and "correct the spelling" of the name. hindi tinatanggap ng coordinating offices if the names are not spelled in the desired manner.

well, yes. some doctors do not practice good handwriting. that is for their clinic assistants to remedy.

I don't understand it doc. Why I have never had a doctor with good handwriting.

Lawyers naman MUST have good handwriting (this is what my business law professor said)

maybe because no one took them to task.
my classmates from maryknoll (miriam now!) have good handwriting.
    i have in-elegant, non-good-looking handwriting, but certainly easily decipher-able.
personally, i can not think of a good excuse why some doctors be allowed to write badly.

i am told by a lawyer...
in the past, lawyers' bar exams included essay-type. if the examiner couldn't understand the examinee's chicken scratching being passed off as handwriting, his grade is at the mercy of the examiner's paciencia.
thus, only those whose handwriting can be read, stand a better chance of passing and being labeled "lawyer".

now, command of the english language... that's another thing! you can see it in these threads.
