Actually if you want to really enjoy ***, you shouldn't have a heavy meal before it. "Carbo-loading" can help keeping your endurance up. Avoid sugary stuff (drinks, etc) as they turn quickly into lactic acid which will slow things down until your body can flush it out.
Just like swimming, best to wait an hour after eating before going in.
But having a couple's meal after doing it is okay and fun too.
