^ agree....look at jayson ivler.......
Discipline is part and parcel of bringing up a child properly, and the proper application of spanking is sometimes necessary. Without it, a child will grow up thinking he can get away with mischief without fear of any repercussions.
Proper spanking includes:
1. Waiting to calm down before starting the discipline process
2. Explaining to the child what he did was wrong, why it is wrong, and that wrong deeds merit punishment.
3. Explaining to the child that he is loved, and that the punishment is being done out of love and the desire for the child to grow up upright.
4. Having set aside an instrument specifically for spanking. When I was a kid, it was a specific belt. This should not be used for any other purpose. Never spank with a bare hand, and never use anything grabbed at random.
5. Being consistent in the number of strokes and the forcefulness of the blow delivered. This prevents excessive spanking brought about by anger.
6. Having a discussion with the child after the spanking, asking questions to see if he understood what the whole process was about, and ending it with a reaffirmation of parental love, with hugs and kisses.
Of course, spanking is not the only form of discipline available.... There is the suspension of privileges, grounding, or being made to do house chores. The bottom line is to do these things not out of anger, and to impose the discipline while the parent is calm, always explaining to the child the whole process.
We already have laws protecting children and people in general from abuse, battery, assault and the like. We do not need the government to start intruding into our families and telling us how to run things.
Instead of the anti spanking bill, they should instead think about a law that prohibits parents forcing their kids to be half-baked actors/singers/dancers. Let's stop producing those inane showbiz denizens!
