isa pa palang advice, just use mineral oil and dont add any additives.

sa Delo naman, Delo Gold Multigrade kunin mo. the detergent in Delo will clean your whole engine. and im sure less than 1 month mauubos mo yung 1000km na yan

Caltex Delo is designed for diesel engine. pero it is suitable for gas engine din. being designed for diesel engine, high ang detergent nito, meaning, mabilis maging black yung engine oil, so mas malilinis yung dumi sa loob compared to motor oil for gas engine.

hope i was able to answer your question.

Ok I just got the car. The warning light is gone and it seems ok naman. Tried testing it binyahe ko from marikina to alabang to qc and nothing seems to be a problem except parang tunog diesel na ang makina. I dunno if i'm paranoid or what pero is this normal guys? Sorry cause its my first time to use an altis. Thanks.

Yung sludge ng toyota engines, I think stems from the fuel filter used. if the oil is not filtered effectively sludge will develop cause the dirt deposits will mix with oil. the engine will "katok also if the filter is clogged cause oil wont lubricate the metal parts of the engine, and will cause overheat due to excessive friction. Now why the filter? cause there are a lot of fake filters out there, even some unscrupulous casa employees may pass to their fake filters to unsuspecting customers who think they have an original. The orig will be sold outside as it is highly priced at some auto supplies. Fake I am referring to are not the vic brand cause even that too is being faked. just my 2 cents
according to many car enthusiasts and blokes, it's because of the vvt system in some ZZ engines (engine used in vios and altis) it gets impressive fuel consumption at the expense of engine oil life.

i personally asked this question to a chemist with a giant oil company in the u.s., he said that most, if not all, sythetics today (SM-rated) should and will last 12 months. for our application (shorter travels) the distance is irrelevant. but he said, 10k kms is even conservative. it can go 15k.

oil spoils daw the moment it gets contaminated, hence the 12 months life. (so store your unused oil in cold, dry places, away from sunlight, etc.)

i change mine every 12 months. 6 years, 6 oil changes after, virtually no oil consumption. i use fully sythetic oil and oem filter.

but for the zz engine-equipped cars, every 6 months.

Just an update. Its been 1,700 km since I last gave you guys an update (dami akong pinuntahan with the car).

Today, left my car in the parking mga around 8:30 am then went to work. I came back for my car mga 6:30 pm na then I started the vehicle. When I turned it on the engine warning light (yellow) is kahit naka start na yung car. I thought it was weird so i switched it off then turned it on again. Wala siya for about 10 secs then it came out again. I was worried so I tested the car to check for problems and I observed ok naman. Walang katok, walang drag, my temp is not heating, no sound even, the engine works ok. Na biyahe ko pa from Ortigas to caltex greenhills when I decided to restart the battery baka software glitch lang. I shut down the engine then turned it on again... tas nawala! Waited for 2 minutes just to check then wala paren. So I decided to go na baka electrical issue lang. Mga 1 KM later it lit up again! After hinde na siya nawala. Now i'm gonna bring my car to the mechanic for updates on what happened.

My question is, could it be that this is still part of the sludging kaya? Kaka change oil ko lang 3 weeks ago (used delo oil). And the car works great, binyahe ko na siya sa Clark, Laguna, and recently batangas wala naman problem.

Let's just see what our mechanic would say. Haaaaay. That's it for now.

Newbie here guys!IŽd like to share something about fully synthetic motor oil. This is the best motor oil that is available in the market these days.Using this type of oil can prolong the life of an engine, lets say be doubled or trippled engine life compared to merely using mineral oil.Unfortunately, some car owners tried mixing mineral oil to fully synthetic oil or vice versa in their car engines without knowing that it would cause foaming to the oil.Oil foaming is fatal to any IC engine & to your pocket too.Never ever mix them together.Dont be afraid using FS oil, just be aware of what you`ll be adding with.Goodluck
