No no talaga ang every 10k kms na change oil kahit ano pa mang miracle-ultra-performance-super-duper ek ek engine oil yan. i think the sludge build up started with the every 10k change oil pati na rin ang every 10k na oil filter change. Pwedeng sa dating owner nagsimula ang sludge build up kung dati sa casa na pms ay every 10k din na change oil ang ginagawa (top up lang every 5k ng fully synthetic). kahit mineral oil lang basta every 5k would have prevented, or at least lessen the chance of sludge build up. imo

question sa mga gurus, will the use of Delo once in a while in our toyota engine prevent this kaya? since Delo has a stronger detergent to clean the inside of the engine.

lets say use Delo for 1k km, then change to mineral na. umm.. do it every 15k km siguro?

so kahit ist class oil gamit ko eh dapat 5k lang palit na?

I specifically signed up for this forum just to know about this problem. It happened to our car also.

About a year ago, we acquired a 2003 Toyota Altis 1.6E A/T at 45km pa (sweetheart deal from relatives) it was still ok no problem good condition. The car was used by my bro. Regular naman maintenance namin, change oil every 6km. My bro was the one who used it and he because he left for an internship abroad, the car was left with us last dec. Medyo na tengga siya for a while then last mon when i used it I saw the oil warning light is naka-on, medyo nawawala wala din yung warning light pero bumabalik. It was running ok naman so dinala ko sa mekaniko agad. Changed the sensor thinking na baka sira lang, nawala yung warning light. I thought it was fixed but when I got home bumalik nanaman. Then nung tuesday I drove it, naka rinig na ako ng katok sa start pero nawala rin agad after about 2km of driving. I realized na may problem na siya but i couldn't bring it sa mekaniko kasi coding ako nun. Finally yesterday dinala namin sa mekanikno then we discovered sluge nga siya! Apparently my stupid bro added additives last october which resulted to this.

Nililinis na as we speak. Sabi ng mekaniko no major damage pero di parin natest drive so we won't really know how bad it is for sure, bukas pa lalabas. I'm not yet sure about the extent of the damage pero i'm just expecting the worst. TIA on this really helpful.

Original Toyota parts at consumables ay nasa 120K+ na.

Machine shop pa at mekaniko. parang 12K+ ang bayad sa machine shop. maliit lang sa mekaniko kasi family friend.

Anyway, already sold the ZZ last month.

pa-change oil ka na.

advice ko sayo, engine flush, then use delo multigrade oil, then after 500km, change oil filter, then after another 1000km, change oil and filter. tapos use regular oil na ulit.

this way, malilinis engine mo.

Onga habang naagapan mag papalit na ako. I think i'll do that na. Grabe kahit toyota to may ganyan maintenance parin pala.

sir, the reason why you have to change filter every 500km is that para hindi mag-bara yung mga sludge na na-trap sa filter. mura lang naman oil filter ng toyota eh
