Actually its possible to see such an gas-electric hybrid costing just 100K more for a typical automatic tranny car. Especially if you consider it will be using a small gas engine (lower tax bracket), clean emissions and very high fuel milage car (tax break).

Given the recent increases on fuel prices...

Do you think the big car companies should introduce hybrid cars (gas-electric or diesel electric, etc) into the local market?

Example of hybrid cars already available in the US market:
    Toyota Prius (gas-electric)
    Honda Civic (gas-electric)
    Honda CRV (gas-electric)

I am seriously considering using Waste Vegetable Oil(WVO) for my diesel ride. Nasa research and planning stage ako.

If I could afford one, I'd get one. I do hope they offer tax breaks to companies or individuals who purchase these. Maybe instead of providing government officials with a high end ford expedition give them a prius or something similar.

With rising fuel prices why not? It might be more expensive but I want to contribute in preserving our environment.

I was thinking that since a typical hybrid car would have a smaller gasoline engine than its "normal" version, it should be placed in a lower tax bracket, giving it an edge in terms of pricing.

Imagine, if you normally get 8km/L in your 1.6 liter engined car now, a hybrid equivalent would get you at least twice more milage in city driving.

given people like buying expensive new cars, I think there would be a good enough market for a very gasoline efficient car. Thats one of the reasons why some people are buying small engined (1.3L or smaller) cars recently.
