November 14th, 2009 09:27 PM #1hi,
just popped out of my mind. will poor electricity (such as battery, loose battery terminals, loose grounding) affect idling of a carb engine?
for efi i think it does matter a lot, but for carb engines, i have no idea. any thoughts or experience on this matter?

"Don't do this at home"
When you PROPERLY shorten the terminals/battery of your alternator the engine will die. Myth busted lolz.
Lights,Break Lights,Aircon,Amplifier,Sound setup. Anything that requires electrical load will affect your RPM. A mechanism or devise such as an Idle Air controller or Idle up in carbs will compensate for those loads thus affecting already your idle.

In my case, the engine misfired even on idle.

Dear Sir:
Aside from messing up your ignition, poor electricals will affect some carbs in a very definite way.
If your carb has a idle-shutoff solenoid, and it intermittently loses power, it will cut off fuel from your idle circuit - which means you STOP.
Get all the basics right BEFORE you blame the carb.

Methinks the Battle of Carthage scene in Russel Crowe's Gladiator (yr. 2000) is a homage to that...
