April 5th, 2003 12:04 AM #14I've tried fully synthetic and I've tried synthetic blend.
In my opinion, the price differential between these and
mineral based oil is not justifiable in a practical point
of view. Mas lalo na ngayon na sobra ang itinaas ng
presyo ng gasoline at lubricants na rin.
So habang mataas ang presyo ng motor oils, bumalik
uli ako sa mineral based oil. Di naman ganun kalaki ang
difference sa performance at tutal naman after 6 months
change oil ka na naman din...
20W/50 API SL, ayus na yun. Sa panahong ito, dapat maging
practical...

April 6th, 2003 01:39 AM #16If you don't drive your car hard, race or use them regularly in poor environments, or if the owner's manual doesn not specifically tell you to use full synthetic oils, forget it, its not worth it.
Ultimately, the biggest benefit of full synthetic oils is that they can operate at higher temperatures without chemically breaking down / boiling.

mineral vs. semi-syn/blend vs. fully syn
consider the following:
1. labor cost-CASA, DIY or gas stations
2. oil filter-replacement or OEM
3. fuel savings-km/ltr and cost per liter
share nyo na lang sa amin

April 6th, 2003 03:56 PM #18By the way, my mechanic recommended me to stick to just one brand of engine oil and one brand / type of fuel for your car. This is so that the engine will get used to the oil / gas you use, and it takes several cycles of full-tank fill-up and oil changes before you get any noticeable benefits for your engine.
pakbet na lang yata ang hindi made in china... pati bamboo sticks, fabrique au chin na rin. heh...
