what is the proper way of turning your engine off?

thanks guys for all the info, minsan kasi napapaisip din ako bakit nga naman kelangan pa mag rev before nila off yung engine. magagaling pagdating sa sasakyan yung mga tito ko at ibang mga kakilala pero pag nag switch off sila ng engine kelangan mag rev muna, talagang pinapaiyak muna nila yung engine nila sabay off ng engine.

black smoke ba ang lumalabas pag nag high rev sila? alam ko pag ganyan, they're decarbonizing the engine lalo na pag mostly after normal speed driving.

maganda mag decarbonize is mag high speed driving ka pero bawal na sa slex. punta ka sa BRC

poor cars, i'm sure di magtatagal lalabas yung sira nun, ako nga before i drive my car on road, idle ko muna ng at least 3mins and 30 mins before i switch on my aircon..

Aksaya lang din sa gasolina yan. If you have a properly working thermostat, then the proper way to warm up the engine is to drive off, pero hinay-hinay lang muna until it reaches operating temp.

wala naman black smoke na lumalabas, siguro nga nakasanayan na lang nila yun. pero sabi nila ginagawa nila yun para kinabukasan pag nag start sila ng engine, one click lng.

hindi naman siguro aksaya sa gas kasi kinukundisyon ko muna yung engine for 3mins and after that patatakbuhin ko na.. after 10-30mins saka ko bubuksan yung aircon.

ako, I just let the car idle a little bit and then shut it off (specially on my daily drivers..) but if its my Supra, I let the Turbo Timer do its job (usually 30 seconds on normal driving and 1 min after a pass on the drag strip.. or after a freeway run.)

depends sa running hours mo... for long distance travel... cool down ka muna before swithcing off... pero kung sa pangmalapitan lang... off mo na...
By the way,, FYI lang... Diesel engine is not for long idling.... basta nasa Normal operating temperature na sya.. if possible iload nyo na kaagad... long idling will cause unburned diesel to mix with your oil... parang dillution na rin yun ng engine oil and diesel.....
although oil din ang diesel, pero yung viscosity nya ay di gaya ng engine oil... it will affect your car's internal parts...

Well said bro. Without load the rings seals prematurely against the cylinder walls causing blow by. That is why compression is poor leading to more than normal contamination of the oil due to oxidation.

In addition, turbo in diesels that are water cooled dessipates the heat more quickly to prevent oil from cooking. A minimal idling is neccesory before shut off unless you just raced it.
