IMO and past experience with it, PANGIT siya compared to a cheaper Baldwin but that's just me.

Indeed sir those are cheaper than VIC. Nagtataka nga ako eh, bakit ang mahal ng VIC filter?

Heres a simple comparison to put you into perspective.

Vic filters - 87% efficiency at 40 microns
Baldwin or Fleetguard - 98 % efficient at 30 microns
most, OEM, Bosch, KNN, or other over the counter filters - 98% efficiency at 40 microns

so even if you use bigger filters, it doesnt necessarily mean that your oil will be less contaminated. using vic, it will only capture most particles in the 40 micron size but at a lousy 87% efficiency only unlike other filters that have better filtering efficiency. try looking for the thread here re: remote bypass filtration. that will really give you a good idea how vic filters are.
thanks pare, let me re-phrase my question then: Will the Baldwin filter equivalent of Vic c-805 fit my engine? the engine is a B16, the Baldwin part number is B161S.

B16 engine uses the m20x1.5 thread filter.

there are many options for you:
    Fleetguard LF3528, Baldwin B166, B161-S
    Baldwin B7243,
    Valvoline V0-106
    Fleetguard LF16157

there maybe cheaper yet better filter than vic.. the only problem is the availability... not many are selling those brands like fleetguard..

if there is available fleetguard or baldwin why not..

anyway, i replace the filter and oil every 5k kms...

Indeed sir, VIC is rampant in the market unlike other brands.
