    Need your thoughts guys.

Will adjusting the valve clearance to factory spec a way to go on a decade old diesel engine?

say for example current mileage is 350K+. Or should it be a bit tighter than the usual factory spec?

    Thanks in advance.

Valves should be adjusted back to factory specs.

Adjust it back to factory specs. The measurement is usually indicated under the hood of the vehicle. They say that its good to have the valves re-adjusted every 40k

As the saying goes "It is more desirable to err towards a looser valve clearance than a tight one".

Why? tight clearances will have detrimental effects to your valves due to insufficient time to cool the valves especially the exhaust valves. The only time that the valve will cool is whne it contacts the valve seat.

Plus the fact that a very small clearnce will somehow affect the sealing of the combustion chamber.
