    after adding the turbo and intercooler, kakayanin ba ng 1.3 yung added load? kaya kaya ng internals ng engine.. malamang short engine life na lang yung 2E after mo mag-add ng turbo..

    tama ka dyan bro.. lalakas talaga ang hp kapag nilagyan ng turbo charger pero iba na kasi hatak ng engine kaya ma sisira agad ang internals ng engine..

    thanks all for the inputs. impression ko kasi mas efficient ung engine when turbocharged kesa naturally aspirated -- with consequential benefits on mileage.

    la lang...i'm just fascinated with systems that turn waste(i.e. exhaust) into power B)

    Jazz that hit 200kmh was the same Jazz in the Top Gear Project Car feature.
    It's no.8 in the manual transmission category.

    Power is up from ~65whp to 100+whp at <6000rpm.

    Under combined city & highway with repeated runs to 200kmh along Star Toll on return trip the Jazz got 13.xx Kml.
    Driver(not me) had a condition called lead footedness.

    Hmmm... 100+ whp, maybe 130-140 bhp? That's a 55hp jump. Most likely around 6 psi lang naman yun?

    In contrast to my earlier statement, I'd like to say: Yes, it's true you can get spirited performance from a turbo 1.3 with better fuel consumption than a naturally aspirated 1.6 or 2.0 engine. It's just the cost of the project (for a new, EFI car) will be great.

    If you're willing to go junkyard hunting and have a suking "mad scientist", not so much, but you'll still spend 50k or so, and reliability and engine lifespan is utterly dependent on how well the guy can tune. Kung low boost, the engine will last a long time... or as long as you maintain it meticulously.

    VW has just released a new GTi. Golf 1.4 liter super-turbocharged (twin-charged, kuno). Makes 168 bhp from only 1.4 liters, a mountain of torque, and still gets the same fuel economy. Baka wave of the future sa mga sport compacts yun.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Btw, if you "significantly increase" the HP and TORQUE, you also need to do something about handling. Since the Jazz is FWD, the higher torque would naturally result in Torque Steer.

    Yup, that's why it had Koni dampers & H&R springs, even the brakes were addressed as well.

    Torque steer wasn't apparent on the FI Jazz. More likely to fry the clutch before that'll happen.

    It's just the cost of the project (for a new, EFI car) will be great.
    Just like any other current model car. ;)
    Up to owner the why's & why not's of car modding really.
    Even if Honda built an FI Jazz, there will still be guys who will mod the hell out of them.

    Not really, nothing more than the usual service stop & component inspection.
    In the past maintenance had to be meticulous for various reasons.
    Not so any more, as long as it's right from the beginning no reason for it to require a whole lot more than the usual care.

    So there is no "bolt-on" turbo kit for the Jazz? You really have to put in a "package" to make sure that the power is handled properly.

    yup, I agree with Auto_Xer. The whole idea of modifying your ride is to stamp your uniqueness in the mass of sameness. There is an intrinsinc premium and value to the uniqueness and effort done in modding the ride.

    Take for example the modded Honda Jazz, aside from the force induction kit, he also modded the suspension, brakes, and fuel/engine management systems. As such, cost becomes secondary in the pursuit of probably the owner's primary goal-uniqueness.

    Same with the HOT ROD culture in the U.S.
