Peeps, my ride is a Big Horn/Trooper>.How do you do it? Not very clear with the owner's manual I have. Anyone tried it on their own? 8.6 liters capacity nung akin, Dexron III. How many drain plugs, filler plug?, fill through the dipstick? Wud appreciate comments from those na naka gawa na? Thanks!
If the tranny is similar to the local trooper, then you can only drain 3L at a time (from 8L capacity) thru the drain plug. This would mean you'll have to do 3 changes to fully replace ATF since they don't recommend a complete drain unless you overhaul the tranny. Fill thru tranny dipstick.
Does your manual mention any tranny filter that needs cleaning?
Does the "casa" not object to using another brand of Dexron III ATF (for the 4JX1-TC Trooper), instead of the their own? Will they (the "casa") allow mixing the existing ATF with a synthetic ATF, say the Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF? Is the job of ATF change doable via DIY? How difficult or easy is it?

Didn't have problems w casa when i used caltex and mobil ATF, though i always replaced it myself then informed them that i've done it. They also went from shell to "polo", w/c is a generic brand.
They said i could use mobil 1 ATF but won't get the full benefits of synth ATF since it'll mix w the mineral stuff til i do about 3 changes.
Very simple to change ATF, really DIY. Just drain then refill thru dipstick tube. What was critical was the right amount of ATF- never past the hot level on the dipstick after a long, hot drive.

Thanks Jack!
Ok great info. I really need to either bring this to someone na nakagawa na or have my own workshop manual. I read sa isang aussie site you have to remove the filler plug sa side first then drain it. Close the drain plug and refill through the filler plug until ATF spills. Yung sa transfer case any idea?
Just read your post. What do you mean drain it 3x? Steps on how to do this? I will change my tranny fluid this weekend ksi so pasensya na sa pangungulit.

On the local trooper, you can only drain 3L at a time from the tranny leaving about 5L inside the plates. Refill then use the vehicle for a couple of days then drain another 3L. Repeat this until you have replaced about 9L of ATF to fully change the contents of the tranny.
The method you described above is usually done to replace transfer case fluid and other transmissions. Just see how many liters are drained from the auto tranny to determine how much to put in. May not reach the 8.6L capacity in just one drain so you'll have to do it again.
since na open na rin ang ATF change, yung sa akin po Pajero nung nag pa change ATF ako.. 3 liters lang ang na drain... and i think 6 liters din ang ATF ng Pajero correct me if im wrong po.
Pareho rin ba and style ng change ATF ng Trooper and Pajero... 3 liters at a time....

Sorry, not familiar with auto tranny of pajero so can't say if 6L is right. If you're only able to drain 3L at a time, then very similar to trooper process to change entire contents.
;)
promdi: meron. naka-sked nako for this week as I myt go to Baguio next week. Partial oil change lang muna (3L), ACDelco. DEXXRON III. Php 112/liter sa Hans Shang.
