August 29th, 2007 06:44 PM #21thanks guys
reason why i'm comparing torque and power is..... i am choosing between SUV or CAR (sportivo and civic 2.0) as our family car
(both are great for us family of 4; i'm only comparing the engine's capabilities)
just asked you the question torque or Hp coz i thought
sportivo has the greater torque but less power
civic has greater power but low in torque
sad to say i found out that on my comparison civic won, both in torque and ponypower...
so decided to buy a civic 2.0 this december
THANKS SA LAHAT ............

its pointless to compare an AUV to a car! (sportivo is not and will never be a SUV!)
weight and power factor comes in.. in this case your just like comparing an apple (civic) to a kalabasa(sportivo)
kung gusto mo torque and HP in a car-->FOCUS diesel/accent diesel....
Last edited by alwayz_yummy; August 29th, 2007 at 08:05 PM.

July 24th, 2009 04:43 AM #24I’m just asking what's more important to consider, the torque or hp.
Nagkataon lang na Sportivo at Civic ang pinagpipilian ko for family use…
I am not comparing the capabilities of the auv and a car....
When I started this thread, all I know is that sportivo has a 2.5 turbo diesel. Since it has a turbo, maybe torque must be above 250 Nm similar to the Toyota 2.5 D4D (I have no idea that the 4JA1 turbo only produces 185 Nm torque, but I do know that the diesel engine and the chassis is heavier compared to the civic, that’s common sense)
Turbo diesel 250 Nm torque but lesser hp, up against the Civic K Engine 200+ hp but with lower in torque.
So I asked you guys, on my first post
ano po ang mas nakakaapekto sa performance ng car, torque o power?
2 cars, A and B. both cars same specs(weight, gear ratio, size, drag coeff... basta lahat na).. except car A has greater power but lesser torque, car B has lesser power but greater torque.
on my second post
I'm only comparing the engine capabilities
What’s soooooooooooooooooooo foolish about that???

kung more than 5 ka palagi get the isuzu.. otherwise get the car.
city streets--need max torque*lower rpm--1800-2000 rpm max torque na! kaya diesels are best city cars
worth looking din ang livina/carens as your option if you need that occasional 2-seater 3rd row....

SUV sana fortuner/alterra
Last December 2007, napagdesisyonan na Brand new Isuzu sportivo na lang...
Then, yung extra na budget, pinambili 2nd hand Mitsu Lancer MX 2000...
2 rides for the price of one new SUV...
1 year and 7 mos na yung sportivo, pero 10,000+kms pa land odo reading. di kasi nagagamit ng husto, yung Lancer rin ginagamit na madalas.
2 rides for the price of one new SUV...
What if ipa-tune pa ito?

You can try to check out dvldoc's posts. His devil'sown alcohol kits should net you around 5-20 hp more on the 4JA1T.
The reason the turbo doesn't make much power is because the boost is very low... about 5-6 psi only on my (admittedly) old Crosswind.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I admit, Im also unfamiliar of "which is more important- power or torque"?
At first, I pick horsepower (or simply power) is more important thing to consider in buying a vehicle instead of the torque. Until I read an article saying torque is the one that really matters (Metro Manila driving).
Soon I will also buying a vehicle for my own family, and with Toyota having both gas and diesel engines on its Innova line-up, I might end up on a dilema like the TS.
If I will decide to get the Innova, which one (gas or diesel) is the most ideal in terms of the following:
1. # of occupants/passengers> 2-5 persons.
I being the driver (always)
2. 80:20 City:Highway (Uphill) driving.
City> Home-Office on weekdays, To the malls & 'palengke' on weekends.
Hi-way> To Ilocos & Baguio monthly or during long holidays,
up to 5 persons + baggage
3. Again, Power and/or Torque is the main concern,
Budget and FC are just secondary (although feedback on FC is a great help).
All inputs are highly appreciated. TIA.
agree... but I don't think its the "T" Badge. kasi the Livina at 1.2M is basically the old...
