Regarding using synthetic oil on your vehicle, you can. It may also provide you with better mileage compared to mineral based oil which is thicker than synthetic. However, since 5W-40 oil is thinner, it is advisable that all your engine's oil seal and gaskets be in tiptop shape in order to avoid leaks.
