You wouldn't want to drive your car everyday without an air intake filter. It would just shorten the life of the engine.

Individual throttle body with fuel injection?

That looks like fuel injected individual throttle bodies.

The ones you probably see "all the time" are most likely dual weber carburetors with individual throttle bodies, which are cheaper and easier to find.

It just means better air flow into the cylinders. Less problems with flow turbulence, venturi flows, etc. Also better control on the air and fuel mix flowing into the cylinders.

This was the performance solution when early single point efi systems were introduced. Some cylinders ran rich while at the same time, other cylinders ran leaner with a single point fuel injection system.

Not the same category. That's like asking if a Big Mac will fill your stomach better than a small order of fries. Of course it will... but it costs a hell of a lot more.

It really depends on your performance goals. Some people prefer all-motor setup while others want forced induction.

For better power to money spent ratio, going for turbocharger is better.
