new lubricants for old engines

do all those motor oils that claim to have some sort of hi-tech additive -- supposedly for smoother performance, less engine wear, etc. -- really work? for the newer engines siguro this would be true, pero how about for older engines( e.g. toyota 2e engine)? me advantages ba talaga, or do i just stick to plain old mineral oil?

There are "for old cars" motor oil out there these days... "Specifically formulated for 100,000 miles up" ek ek... Iba naman din timpla dun.

Most of the time, as long as the viscosity is correct, mineral is fine, just change your oil as scheduled.

Unless you rev your engine really high, all the time, there's no need to expensive hi-tech oil.

get the correct viscosity for your engine and whether it's mineral or full syn and it should be ok. syempre full syn gives better protection pero if you change regularly and don't drive hard then mineral is ok.
