New Castrol Engine Oil for Gas & Diesel

Has anybody tried Castrol's new engine oil formula which supports both gas and diesel? I am thinking of trying it, but would like to know if anyone already has, and how is its performance? This is great for owners of both gas and diesel engines, since we can reduce excess oil wastage.

Speedyfix, sorry I couldn't remember which model of Castrol. But its not synthetic nor semi-synthetic since the price was around P160/liter only. The shops claim its the latest from Castrol, and the packaging says it exceeds requirements of SM(?) rating.

Its available in 2 to 3 shops of the Mercury Drugstore building in Cash & Carry.

even the castrol crd diesel oil has now been renamed CRB i think...

A diesel engine oil is designed for diesel engines. A gas engine oil is designed for gasoline fed engines. Making an engine oil suitable for both gas fed and diesel fed engines = somehow there must be a compromise which only the experts know.

AFAIK, Elf have this kind of oil.

used it in my sentra diesel way back 1990, isa lang napansin ko sa castrol na pwede sa gas at diesel, madaling matuyo o mabawasan, akala ko tuloy makina ko may tama...binalik ko sa cats sabi nung service adviser next oil change subukana daw shell rimula o ibang brand na pang diesel lang... ayun nung napalitan na di na nagbawas ng langins yung sentra...

tapos last month lang nag pa change oil yung hi ace diesel ko, yung driver lang nagdala sa suking mekaniko ko... castrol ang nilagay ng mekaniko... crd ata yun... ayun after a month bawas agad, nagtaka driver baket one month lang laki ng nabawas... pinapalit ko na lang ng special ng petron... lapit na change oil ulit konti pa lang bawas
