motor oil?

hello all,

i was following this thread kasi nag pa change oil ako kanina.... sabi ko sa mekaniko yung mobil delvac yung ipalit na oil.. hindi ko alam meron palang 40 and meron din 15W40.. sa shop nila.. eh yung nailagay is yung 40 and not the 15W40... tanong ko lang po kung okay lang ba ang oil na ito.. my previous oil kasi was the Trekker. gusto ko sana ipalagay yung 15W40 kasi yun ang nababasa ko dito sa thread na maganda.. kaso it turned out na 40 lang yung nailagay.... any difference.... info naman mga experts.... 4D56 Turbo engine

The delvac MX 15w40 would be better in terms of API rating(CH4) and TBN- which would give better protection overall. The sae40 won't damage the engine though. Keep it for 2500km then change to 15w40.8)

would there be a benefit if i switch from rimula x to delvac mx 15w40? its for a 1995 hilux with 140k on the odo.

ganun ba talaga ang lifespan ng oil na yan 2500km lang... if ever i would replace the oil at that kilometer reading.. palit din po ba ako ng oil filter.. replacement lang yung oil filter ko the brand is VIC kaso im not that yaman naman if at 2500km change oil and replace oil filter kaagad ako.. pa advise po... salamat... city driving lang po yung ride ko average running at 15km per day.

Not much difference in theory. Bigger diff if you use quality oil and air filters with either oil since the service life may be longer.

Use 2500km if you want to switch right away otherwise keep the delvac 40 til 4000km, even with Vic filters, then change to 15w40.

Ok ba castrol oil? If ok ano klase?I'm still choosing what kind of oil i will use in my next 10k oil change. thanks a lot.

Think Castrol has a 15w40 diesel oil which is better than their 25w50 oil.

Avoid their "Magnatec" oil which is only a semi-synth but priced as a full synth. Most dealers think it's a full synth.:x

I agree with sir jackaroo. The Castrol GTD 15W-40 is a better oil than the Castrol CRD 25W-50. Pero sir ner I suggest having it changed every 5k rather than 10k. Goodluck.

Synthetics do not work too well with diesels bec although the viscosity will not be affected, you will have lots of contaminants. You need to change oil early din. The best thing to do if you want a longer drain interval for your diesel is to look for an oil with a high TBN content but not too high. TBN 12 is ok.

Guys, your input please...I have two vehicles, a diesel and a gas one..Is it safe to mix excess motor oils, diesel to gas and vice versa?
To mix my excess 1/2 liter diesel motor oil to my gas motor oil when I have my car changed its oil? or to mix my 1/2 liter gas oil to my diesel oil when I changed my deisel engine vehicle's oil?
