I took the car for a trip down South where I spent my New Year. Off the bat, I’d say the car felt smooth running & acceleration. On paper, the the specs & certifications look good enough to try, as I am not restricting myself to commonly used lubes.

    in the past,
whenever i had my regular oil change (mineral oil),
the car always "felt smoother running and had better acceleration" afterward.
imagined perception? real? i don't know...

    hah!
    many years ago,
when i replaced the oil of my then-recently-purchased car, using the recommended oil grade,
the oil pressure light started flickering.
it would appear, the engine was so worn, it could not keep proper oil pressure anymore.

    ex-taxi!
it would seem, all the signs were there. but me-in-my-in-experience...
    heh heh.

Could be doc. I just don’t feel that with my other diesel car using Zic X7. But maybe expectations were a bit optimistic. Either or, it’s still positive. But I’ve used a bad fs oil before & felt it right away. I bought this oil because of it’s ACEA rating.

which brings me to my nagging question.
"how does one know that the oil one just poured into the engine, is bad oil?"

It is hard to describe to give you a satisfactory answer but, it didn’t feel right & up to my expectations. Maybe there are other factors at play but, that was the only thing changed with the car to make me suspicious. It’s also been proven that not all oils are created equal. Anyway, to each his own.

Question mga gurus re: diesel engine oil. API CI-4 mineral engine oil vs API CF-4 semi-synthetic engine oil.
