good pm fellow tsikoteers. i had the distributor o-ring of my corona replaced last sunday.

May 7th, 2008 04:25 PM #3o-ring lang yan. kung may tama na yung shaft, baka pwede pa-build up mo na lang sa machine shop then use OEM o-ring.
imo, oil leaking from distributor is not that alarming as compared to leaks from oil pan, tranny, etc.

thanks for the replies, v6dreamer and fourtheboys96. weekend next week ko pa machecheck kung makakahanap ng replacement distributor (any suggested sellers?) hindi kasi makapagleave sa trabaho, also hoping to get inputs from you guys before i trek to evangelista or banawe.
v6dreamer, i think wala namang baluktot o wasak kasi hindi naman yun natamaan o nabangga. but i'm really not knowledgeable on this, i don't know kung pwede ngang mabaluktot ito with normal driving. will take your advice, bro, patingin ko sa iba.

May 8th, 2008 10:09 AM #6yes hot oil can damage an electrical wire. but unless the leak squirts oil (which i very much doubt), i dont think the hot oil will touch any wires inside the distributor.
and afaik, the leaked oil will settle at the bottom part of the dist cap and wont accumulate inside since it will still leak onto the engine.
well, if you have the money, there's no problem buying a replacement or surplus. but you dont always have to believe what the mechanic says.

"A distributor is a device in the ignition system of an internal combustion engine that routes high voltage from the ignition coil to the spark plugs in the correct firing order." --Wikipedia
after reading this, naisip kong better mag-surplus na lang ako kaysa replacement. that's just me. hindi ako nakalabas this weekend to look for a surplus distributor, will keep you posted on any update. thanks again for the replies.
