knocking/rattling sound from engine

good evening fellow tsikoters,

once again i need your advice. do you guys ever notice that knocking sound whenever you try to accelerate? yun para bang mababa pa yung RPMs mo tapos you're on a higher gear. it makes that sound e, tapos nawawala rin pag medyo mataas na yung RPMs ko or when your car reaches an acceptable speed. this happens to me alot, especially sa 2nd gear, when im at an inclined road (pataas) or basta naka on yung aircon ko. parang nawawalan ng power. pero pag naka off yung aircon ko. nawawala or di ganon ka noticeable yung sound.

i used to try this on our vtec civic but it doesn't happen naman, i mean i dont hear any knocking sound.

dati this happens when i use unleaded fuel, but when i changed to a higher octane fuel nawala siya. ngayon bumalik nanaman yung knocking sound. i know it's not the fuel kasi i've been using blaze for almost a month na pero i can still here the knocking sound.

any ideas to what causes this?

ser baka you shift prematurely to a higher gear. i'm experiencing the same problem kapag low octane ang gamit kong gasolina (especially kapag shell super unleaded). yun yata yung term na "tupe"...meaning ata nun e hindi nagburn fully yung gasoline kaya less ang power especially when on an inclined road.

It's called detonation or tope...

Timing isn't correct. Have it checked or manually retard it. If you have a car with a knock sensor, then have that checked since the knock sensor prevents detonation from continuing.

Using higher octane gas is a temp fix, unless your car requires high octane to begin with.

malamang wala sa tamang timing ang engine mo. have it check by a reputable mechanic hindi dun sa nanghuhula lang.

umzzzzz, that's what i thought nung umpisa, na baka premature yung pag shift ko. pero kahit umaabot na sa 4k rpm yung 1st gear ko, pag shift ko sa second may tope sound pa rin e.

theveed, betz, i'll have my timing checked, i think sa speedyfix kaya naman nila to. and besides malapit pa sila sa amin.

btw, does the 97 cefiro have a knock sensor?

oh yes it does hehe, since 93 ata na nissans meron...

mine is slightly defective as well, i ordered one sa US already, mahal dito eh mga 9K isa...

Migs (speedyfix) can scan your computer, if yan ang may sala lalabas yan as error code 0304 I think, pero di iilaw ang CEL mo.

that's great! pero ang mahal naman nun, i hope di pa sira yung akin. mukang ok magpagawa sa speedfix ah! i plan to have a general check up ng engine and clutch dun, i hope they can handle it. thanks theveed.

in short "tumotope" or premature shifing to higher gear. lakas makasira ng engine yan sayang. you can avoid it by having enough acceleration before shifting to higher gear para di bitin.

hinde dude, i dont shift prematurely, kahit late na yung shift ko ganun pa rin e. parang may rattling sound. i'll have it checked nalang, takot ko rin kasi baka in time masira na yung engine ko.

bro, i strongly reccomend use gaso from caltex or shell with 95oct, GOLD & Velocity repctively, cgrdo mwwla yan khit hndi kn punta sa mga service centers, ganyan din kse experience ko en mga frenster ko..

i finally found out what was causing it. malambot pala yung 2 gulong ko sa harap. the pressure was down to 22 nalang, e dapat 32. u think may kaso yun?

after ko mag pa hangin, ok na siya e, wala na yung knocking sound. pero still, i'll have the detonation/timing checked.
