idling with aircon

hi guys. sensya na if i seem to have a lot of questions. tanong ko lang sana if my car's idling is normal when aircon is on. car is a 94 honda civic lx.

here's the situation. seems there are 3 stages when aircon is turned on. during the first stage, which is also the case when you first turn the aircon on, idling is set to 900 rpm (which is also my rpm w/o aircon). the second stage occurs after about a minute, this is when i think the aux fan kicks in. rpm increases to 1k and you can hear a humming sound. again after a minute, idling drops to about 300 rpm and goes back to 900 rpm after a second or two. this is when the aux fan stops.

when the car is moving, you can somehow feel the loss of power pagdating sa third stage. this is true especially if you're coming from a full stop tapos kelangan mo na umarangkada. kapag inabutan ng third stage while beginning to accelerate, kelangan i-compensate sa pag-apak sa gas pedal, otherwise medyo nanginginig makina.

this is my first car and i haven't driven any other car kaya wala ako ibang basis. and since im a new driver, ngayon ngayon ko lang napapansin ung mga nuances ng kotse kaya im not really sure if this was the case before. im wondering if this should really be the case for cars with the same age or any car for that matter.

btw, napapalitan ko na ung vacuum hose (the one where i think 5 other hoses are connected sa may bandang carburador). previously kase natanggal to and niremedyuhan na lang ng mighty bond. before replacing it, i was already experiencing this idling condition with aircon on. twice ako namatayan ng makina nung dumating sa 3rd stage when i was at a full stop. ngayong napalitan na ung vacuum hose, hindi pa naman ako namatayan uli (crossing my fingers here). last tuneup naman nya nung october.

concerned lang kase ako kung normal ba talaga na ganun kababa bagsak ng rpm pagdating ng 3rd stage though umaangat din naman after a second or two. in addition, kapag nasa 2nd stage naman, although nasa 1k ang rpm, feeling ko mukang medyo noticeable ung ingay and baka masyado malakas sa gas at this stage.

hmmm. expansion valve related?
nangyari din kasi sa akin yan before. may sipa pag rumarangkada so ramdam na ramdam mo yung pag engage nung compressor.
nung pinapalitan ko ng expansion valve (syempre sabay linis na rin), nawala sya.

i've had the same problem 2 months ago with my 95 hatchback...pinapalitan ko yung mga bearing ng compressor kaya hindi na maingay. yung sipa, medyo natanggal rin pero meron pa rin but unlike yung dati na sobrang lakas. anu ba yung expansion valve? san po ito banda nakalagay. salamaaaaat!

one more thing, kapag nag-off ung aux fan ng aircon (ung 3rd stage as mentioned above) medyo lumulubog ung brake pedal. pansin mo sya pag naka-stop ka and you're stepping on the brakes then biglang dumating sa stage na un. not really sure why...

really hard to diagnose. dapat patignan mo na yan sa isang reputable shop kasi nakakainis yung namamatayan ka bigla.

yung jeep ko (diesel) namamatayan palagi dati everytime na naka-idle. it turned out there was not enough fuel supply sa engine kasi clogged na fuel line so i changed it, yun nawala na.

yung sa kotse ko naman (corolla xl5) as in nawawalan ng power pag naka-on yung aircon at nanginginig pag naka-idle. ipapa-check ko kung naka-align na maayos yung compressor baka kasi mali na yung alignment nya sa engine (kasi di ba may belt yung compressor na naka-konek sa engine). balak ko na rin ipa-check yng compressor baka yung bearings kelangan na ng grease or change bearings na.
