There are 2 types of air filters: dry and wet. The dry type can be cleaned with air while the wet type can be brushed clean since it has an oil which contains the dirt, dust. Some filter manufacturers don't recommend using pressurized air on wet type filters. Think the filter media which is colored white is the dry type while the pink colored ones is wet.

The trooper's (4JX1) air filter is a wet type filter. Either one, i replace air filters at 10k km.

Ako, I opted for orig isuzu filters for air, oil and fuel.

Sa air, in particular, wala akong mahanap na full rubber on both ends, kadalasan ng nakita ko ay ring lang ang rubber. Yep, pink ang color nito.

Changing to an aftermarket filter does help in replacement costs in the long run... However i'd suggest you save up for a K&N filter and cleaner kit as this will still be better in longevity and filtering quality. Simota's are pretty cheap but they have a lower level of filtering quality and longevity then the K&N filters.

Just keep your stock airbox so if you plan to cahnge cars, you can carry over the K&N as long as you take good care of it.
