hehehehehe
now that i am pushing 30 years old, i really don't care much for speed. fuel efficiency, maintennance costs, reliability and lamig ng aircon are what really
concern me now.

masyado kasi api ang 1.3 . . what i meant is: "kaya naman talaga ang 160kph.. sa 2.0 chicken lang yun.. sa 1.3 medyo hirap than the 2.0 pero kaya.. pero kung 180kph na dun niyo na i-cross out ang 1.3L yun talaga ang mahirap.. kakailanganin ng mahaba habang highway.."Originally Posted by mazdamazda

depende din yan sa pagkakabond niyo ng kotse.. syempre mas matagal mo na kilala ang kotse mo mas kabisado mo na.. proper gear shifting and clutch techniques would be a big factor..![]()
160kph, on a 1.3 engine, on flat land? Hmmm....malabo. Downhill, pwede pero you'd really burn your brakes trying to stop if something or somene pops-up in front of the car 150 meters ahead. Sa 1.5 or 1.6 siguro, pwede. I'd say for a 1.3L engine, 130-140kph should be the "safest" (this word is highly subjective), maximum speed, no matter what the speedo sez.
But if the 1.3L car would just be for, oh, going to the grocery, driving to the mall or just plain everyday city driving, I'd say it will do just fine.

i drove a 1990 XL5 (1.3L) corolla from Manila to La Union with 4 passengers and cargo sa trunk, the top speed I got was 120 Kph. kung ako lang mag-isa i'd say i could have topped at 150 kph. acceleration is not that adequate pero it can do the job of getting you to your destination. i used up about 10 liters of gas going to La Union and about 12 liters going back to Manila.
OT.
I have Sentra GX matic (1.3L), sabi sa specs 4speed WITH O/D.
meaning 4 speed sya plus OD so its the 5th gear?

Some people confuse O/D. They think that switching it off enhances efficiency. We do know it's the other way around. It's just that when a normal driver hears 'overdrive,' it sounds like driving faster, or more performance. I personally don't know why it's termed as such in the first place. Perhaps 'cruise' or 'economy' would be more understandable.
Going back to the 1.3s, like most of them said, they're enough to get the job done. If you don't plan to maintain more than 120 km/h on the highway, they should do just fine. Yes, they can reach more than that speed, but regaining lost momentum, like when you have to slow down because a slug is on the passing lane, will be much harder than in a 1.6 or 2-liter car.
100 kph. is a decent speed and the max sa highway.
nag iisip lang ako bat kailangan pa umabot nang 120kph and mag overtake.
overtaking in highway is very much dangerous.
in my experience..our kia pride.
1.3L,a/t....* NLE, 160kph*approx. 6000pm....but it will consume a quarter of my 37L tank from balintawak to sta.rita exit!
mga 5x ko pang ginawa,e.....but my pride has a warning buzzer whenever i reach 120kph....
true, * 60-80kph, a 1.3L engine is good enough...
...yup, a 1.3L would fare well in our hiways. dont be too concerned on how long it reaches 160 or if it can actually reach 160. before you know it, ur back in the city stuck in traffic.![]()
I've been driving my Lancer EL 1.3L steel rims and pawis steering for the past 8.5 years and it still gets the job done of bringing me from point A to B. I use it mainly for daily driving to work. Matipid sa gasolina. Tried it sa highway mainly to go to Subic and Clark and to Bolinao, Pangasinan. At 100kph ok siya. Pagsampa ng 130kph, feeling ko parang lilipad na. Pa-minsan minsan I get the feeling that the engine is quite small relative to the large body of the pizza type Lancer.
Honda city gen 1/type z really has that aerodynamic flaw where it vibrates at abot 120kph to 140kph... Above 140kph, the vibration disappears... Some folks I know driving a Honda City gen1/type z SX8 1300cc (and actually tried it myself also) could also reach 180kph (no passengers)...Originally Posted by 66bunny

I drive a Vios 1.3 and top speed ko so far ay close to 150 sa NLEX.
