HELP!!!! (My Friends Corolla XE 97's Fuel Consumption)

Since your friend just got the car, i'd suggest a full check up service. Start with the basics muna before looking into other probabilities:
- Change oil, tune-up (change spark plugs, adjust timing), and carb overhaul (sa Kamuning, try checking out "Kamuning Carb Specialists")
- Change the brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, and gear oil
- Check suspension, underchassis (retorque all bolts) then get a wheel alignment
- Does the clutch slide already? This can be one reason on why you have to gas hard to get the car moving.
- Change the fuel and air filters.
- Have the brakes cleaned/inspected along with your cooling system and electricals.
- Check all the belts of the car (replace na rin para sure).

You may want to have the fuel gauge floater checked as well... i noticed with our Corollas before (we had 3) that the fuel gauge dropped rapidly after passing the half tank mark.

Depending on the shop and parts you'll need. If you don't need an overhaul kit (or just need a gasket) then mga P400 to P500 lang... if you need a overhaul kit (get the Keyster brand), a bit more but not that much (can't recall the price).

I'm back, biniyahe na namin sa quezon at we're here na sa mla, here's my observation, when we're in SLEX hinataw ko not really hataw kasi gang 80kph lang ako waaaaahhh because kapag lumagpas na ng 80 kph nag wiwiggle na cya. nag 90kph ako nagwiggle na talaga kaya di ko rin nalaman kung gaano talaga cya kabilis pero kaya pa!!!! sir sorry di ko ma post fuel consumption nya kasi di pa kami nag full tank. about the fuel gauge i think oks lang kain nya ng gas kasi 1/4 of the gauge lang na consume namin going to quezon then 1/4 again pabalik. pero i know di ito ang basehan ng correct fuel consumption. so far wala naman naging problema sa makina nya... thanks "VINJ" for your reply!!! papabasa ko nga to sa friend ko!!!

hehe...ang haba na nito. Anyways, nun may corolla ako na big body 10 km/li gas consumption ko city, 13-14 highway.

Regarding the wiggle, check the tire inflation and get the wheels aligned.

sir Exactly talaga ganyan ang car ko SILVER ROLLA XE 96' MODEL.
Dapat mo talaga check yan po kasi sakin overhaul carb talaga sya kasi dun bumabalik ang pwersa ng car. ganun din sa shocks ko ma fell ko yong little holes ng kalsada kaya but na palitan nlang.. yong air filter ko po noon ay yong original talaga tapos ang dumi na at di na nka filter ng dumi so pinalitan ko ng simota air filter pra daw may power horse nman kahit ka unti. change oil talaga pag time na at pati change mo yun oil filter. flush mo din yong radiator tapos change mo to distilled water 50% and 50% collant. pamana kasi to sa akin sa aunte ko. kaya lady driven. pa check mo din "rack in" ba yun? bka wla lampayatot na yan gaya sakin dahil tagal na din. yan lang po ma advice ko sayo po. sure po ako babalik talaga ang pwersa at fell mo yun.
