    Guys, advice naman po diyan. Pagod na po kasi ako sa kakapa-ayos ng Kotse ko. My car is Isuzu Gemini I-Mark '89 model.

    Specs:
    70HP
    4Cyl
    8Valve
    FWD

    Inis na ko kasi halos buwan-buwan na lang may pinapa-ayos ako sa kotse na ito. Nabili ko siya ng 70K and umabot na ako ng more than 70K sa mga paayos na ginawa ko to the point na 9 Months old pa lang sa akin itong auto na ito. Plano ko po sana Change Engine lang instead na ibenta ulit kasi gusto ko po kasi i-retain yung Body nung Car. Intact and makinis pa kasi. Ano po kaya magandang engine ang pwede ilagay dito. Yun po sanang 1.3 to 1.6L, 4 cyl, 16V and DOHC. Pang daily drive and long drive po sana at saka yung madaling i-maintained. Ito kasing car ko na ito hirap i-maintained ang mahal ng mga parts and mahirap maghanap. And sana mabigyan nyo na rin ako ng estimate cost and labor.

    eg:
    Body Repaint
    Engine and Installation
    Upholestery(Sidings and Dashboard)
    Aircon
    Undercoating and Rustproofing

    Ito po sana mga plan ko once na makakuha ako ng engine na babagay sa car ko.

    Addtional info lang po ang existing engine ko po is Carb po, pwede po kayang palitan ito ng mga EFI?
    Pang Daily Drive lang po sana and long drive na engine and kukunin ko. Post naman kung ano magandang engine and saan makakakuha.

    yakang yaka yan ng mga talyer na nag race setup ng mga civics n lancer! sanay yung mga yun sa conversion...

    mag EFI ka na...

    If i'm going to engine swap, any suggestion kung anong engine ang OK for daily and long drive and of course yung tipid din po sana sa Gasolina.

    medyo ibang case yang sayo kasi gemini chassis tapos ibang engine? hindi madali yan.

    yung mga nageengine swap naman kasi ang pinapalit nilang makina talagang designed din ung makina para mag-fit para sa kotse nila. pero sa kaso mo nga mukhang retrofit. unless isuzu engine din ikabit mo.

    front wheel drive na pala gemini?

    cost of engine + installation labor + body repaint + reupholster + aircon installation + undercoating & rustproofing = 100k aabutin niyan ( guesstimate)

    yakang yaka yan bench! dami ng nagpapagawa nun.. honda engine on a mazda etc etc...

    well kung tipid ang hanap mo, there's the economical 2E from corolla engines.. kaso carb pa.. di hataw pero adequate power naman.

    ususally mga nagpapatransplant e mga vtec, mitsu 4g63 at toyota 4efte mga preffered e... kasi more on performance ang habol nila....

    Gusto ko sana Toyota or Mitsu engine with performance na rin. Kasi gusto yun bang di hirap mag-overtake kapag gagamitin ko for long drive.

    Any suggested shop na pwede ko pagdalhan at pagbilhan ng engine?

    hmmmmm mukhang mas mahal pag nag-engine swap ka. kasi yung transmission mo ibabagay sa makina mo then yung mga braces ipapa-modify mo to accept the new engine, etc.

    have you tried asking kung magkano overhaul ng existing engine mo??? btw ano-ano yung mga naging problems mo sa present engine mo that led you to decide na magpa-engine swap ka?

    Dami na pare, di ka siguro maniwala ang mahal ng parts niya ako mismo bumibili ng parts. May shop pa nga na nagsabi sa akin na mahal pa daw sa honda mga parts ko.
    1. Top overhaul - 11,300 (Parts, and labor)
    2. Rack end and Tie rod - 13700 (Replacing and labor * Autoexer)
    3. Carb - 5K (Replace to 4K Brand new and labor)
    4. Evaporator 2.5K (Replace and labor *Mang Mario)
    6. Upholster except sidings -4K (Materials and Labor)
    7. Shock Absorber Front Only (5.2K parts only)
    Meron pa marami pa yan kaya lang i Lost my excel file yung track ng mga pina-repair ko yan lang ang Naalala ko kasi mga recent yan yung iba medyo matagal na kaya di ko na na-aalala. Nagsisisi nga ako at binili ko kala ko kasi mura kasi ganda tingnan nung una yun pala body lang maganda. Bwisit. Pero nakalipas na yun natuto na. Hehehe.

    kaya lang sa laki ng mgagastos mo pa.... it might be better to just sell it nalang and buy other secondhand car na lang... at least orig.

    Hmmm... may I know the reason why you purchased this vehicle in the first place? It is quite unique in that there aren't as many on Phil roads as, say, a box-type Lancer. In fact, I haven't seen one up close.

    The cost of a unique car (other than the cost to acquire it) is really expensive if you count maintenance - you need a mechanic who knows much about it, trying to source out parts - since there are a few, your average corner parts store may not have what you need all the time.

    So I think keeping this car would be more expensive.

    Have you considered selling it and getting say a Mitsubishi or Toyota?

    mahal naman nung tie rod end and rack end... pagawa ka kaya sa banawe? wala bang replacement na ganyan? naka dalawang palit na ako ng tie rod end and rack end dun sa mazda ko (626 yun, mahal din parts) pero di inabot ng 5k labor inclusive...

    yung ibang parts naman mukhang ok lang yung pricing.

    Acually first car ko kasi, ito and akala ko OK siya at its price. Yun pala daming hidden na problema. Kaya ko binili pang-gala ko lang sana sa family ko w/in metro manila lang. Eh kaso dami pala problema huli tala ang pagsisisi. Saka medyo na-atat ako magka-kotse. Kainis.

    Oo nga sobra mahal nung parts. Sabi nga ni Autoexer sobra daw mahal nung parts nung sasakyan daig pa nga daw HONDA.

    kung pagagawa mo lahat ung specified na jobs for your ride, lalong sasakit ang ulo mo. my advice, sell your car, and with the money that you will be using for the repairs, you can buy a more decent and a later model used car. gagamitin mo na lang.

    Sell your car na lang, kaya mahal ang parts ng Gemini is mahirap nang makahanap parts niyan eh. Kasi sa sobrang luma baka pagkatapos mong ayusin iyon may ibang part namang masisira.

    Guys, I really appreciate all your advice. Thanks you so much. For the mean time gamitin ko muna hanggat kulang pa ipon ko pambili ng kapalit. May be end of the year pwede ko na dispatsa ito.
