timing belts o fan belts? ang alam ko pag maluwag yung timing belts, ang effects nyan is disastrous sa engine mo eh. kasi the pistons don't work in harmony with one another.

One tooth slip could cause your engine to stall. Tutukod na agad isa hanggang 3 valave mo agad nun.

Baka nga as the guys pointed out yung fan belts mo lang ang maluwag.

Maluwag na timing may result to very expensive internal engine repairs.

allow me to bring up this old thread kasi i've got a similar experience. still lancer, but glx 2000.

tb was changed last week of december 2k8 and just first week of feb 2k9, i had my idle suddenly up at 1100 rpm. i can't bring it down no matter what i do to the carb. actually lapat na ang throttle plate ayaw paring bumaba.

any updates or confirmation about this possible tb skipping issue?

wait, tb indicates an injected engine but then you mention the carb. which is it?

Fuel-injected or not, you need the timing belt to turn the valve cam, since wala naman tayong push rod.

I would guess that he has a carbureted variant of the 4G15 (SOHC).

Air is definitely getting in somehow and bypassing the throttle valve. You may have a vacuum leak, whether on the carb, the carb gaskets, butterfly shafts or the vacuum line.

to test a possible intake vacuum leaks ,use a SMOKE TESTER the best tester available , and it's very accurate it only take the tech less than 5 minutes to do a test , no guessing , it will be able to pinpoint where exactly the leak is if there is any.
