Will 5w30, 10w30, and 10w40 have any noticeable effect in terms of fuel consumption?

January 3rd, 2012 08:14 PM #24Per my experience, when I switched to 5w30 and 10w30 from 5w40, the car did save some gas. Not sure how big. Forgot the numbers already. Just make sure that the oil you buy is API rated as energy conserving oil. Its right on the API logo.

Remember it's not all about synthetic vs semi-synthetic vs regular oil. It's also about the oils ratings for a new rebuilt engine I would not be running anything less than CH-4/SL or CI-4/SL in a gas engine if you want maximum protection. ZIC makes some good oils as well as Motul
I'm leaning toward ZIC for a good low cost oil.
ZIC A is a Group II and Group III blend.
ZIC A+ is a Group III synthetic
ZIC XQ is a Group III synthetic

Maraming Salamat :)
