First oil change 1000KM, mobil1 synthetic or not?

ipapa change oil ko na po yung Altis ko kasi naka 1000KM na ko. Pwede na ba gumamit agad ng synthetic oil? Nabasa ko kasi sa net dapat daw sa 5000KM bago mag synthetic pero sabi naman sakin ng casa mobil1 fully synthetic na daw agad para daw hindi na humalo yung ibang oil? Ano ba talaga?

yup... ok lang na fully synthetic na.

just make sure na every 10K ang palit ng langis & every 5K ay palit ng oil filter lang.

The Altis' engine does not really call for the use of synthetic fluids. It will happily live its life on regular changes of mineral based oil.

But if you like to use synthetic, you can do so as soon as you want to (even before 1,000kms).

thanks! Ang nilagay nga pala nila Mobil1 0w-40. ok lang ba yun?

0w-40 can be used for almost any application & temperature.

though using a 0w rated oil is overkill here in the Philippines.

Ok lang naman though not really worth the extra cost for me. Of course, the dealer makes more $$$ by pushing synths than they do with mineral based oil.

Engines here are going past 100,000kms without needing overhauls while still using mineral based oils.

Synthetic or mineral - pareho lang iyan. Just remember that if you used mineral, it should be changed every 5,000 kms. For synthetic, every 10,000 kms but the oil filter must be replaced every 5,000 kms.

Yung nga, pareho lang pero ang laki ng difference sa presyo (more than double).

And only the dealer says that you can extend drain intervals with synth. Not the vehicle manufacturer or the oil manufacturer.

For vehicles with extended (greater than 5,000kms.) intervals from the factory, the extension of the interval is due to the engine being designed for extended intervals as a whole. Not due to a change in fluid type.

btw... there are cheaper synthetic oils out there...

for the rav4, am using motul 10w-40. P1600/gallon.

for the 323, am using castrol magnatec 10w-40. P1000/gallon.
