lately, bumalik ung sakit eng ride ko, i.e. parang binibilaukan ung engine when cold. it would running smoothly, then biglang magstall/surge out of nowhere. this happens when the engine is cold, although it hasn't behaved this way ever.

i made a quick inspection of the engine bay, and found this:

apparently the portion of the air filter directly above the carb jets appear burnt. ano kayang ibig sabihin nito?

i had some overheating problems a few weeks back, pero solved na siya; effect kaya ng pag overheat yung pagkasunog sa filter?

i doubt overheating had anything to do with that...

aside from the burnt filter, there are some burn marks around the air filter assembly.

is it possible that the a/f mix is getting burnt prematurely, kaya nasunog ung filter? e.g air flows into the throttle body, which sucks in fuel further down along the body, a/f mix gets ignited there before it gets into the cylinders.

what could've ignited it, though? stray sparks? unusually high engine temperature gawa ng pag overheat?

heat won't be enough to ignite fuel. you need sparks.
