Follow up lang po for my post above. Just had the injection pump of my 4d56 (L300) overhauled and calibrated. All gaskets and o-rings of the pump were replaced and the pump was calibrated.

However, naging hard starting na siya, it would take 2 to 3 tries before siya magstart whereas dati naman ay one click lang ay start na agad. Bakit kaya? Check timing, glow system, air ingress, etc. There are so many causes for a hard start problem. The workshop that serviced your IP should correct this problem.

Didn't notice this when i was still in the calibration shop, just though I would inquire first with you before I bring it back to the shop.

My 1993 L300 VV diesel has around 113,000km on its odo and according to the mechanic is due already for a complete overhaul because its temp rises during long climbs and when stuck in traffic
Temp rise alone does not justify an overhaul. Check accuracy of temp gage, check thermostat, water pump, radiator, etc.

and there is this weird "tak-tak-tak" like sound coming from the engine. This could be fuel knock due to a faulty injector nozzle. Ask around for a 2nd/3rd opinion before considering an overhaul.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

thank you sir!. Btw, forgot to mention that this was top overhauled last year and may nakita ng ridge on all four cylinder liners. Could this be the culprit on why it is overheating and that strange sound?

Cylinder wear will result in high blowby, not overheating.

Loosen one high pressure line at a time to validate if a specific injector is causing the knocking sound.

    Hi Dieseldude,

    Hi Dieseldude,

Thanks for your reply. Wala bang parang BISS screww yung 1KZ-TE na engine na gaya sa 4G92 ng Mitsu? What about yung idle up para sa aircon, may adjustment kaya yun?

Tsaka nga pala, I now rarely use my van, napansin ko na twing gagamitin ko eh may black smoke pagka-start nya,. Normal lang ba ito or do I have something to worry about?

    Thanks again...

He's referring to the base idle set screw. BISS is not applicable to diesel engines because diesel engines do not have throttle flaps (kind'a like a gas engine on WOT) and bypass circuits that control idle air. Diesel engines run by fuel metering.

As for the 1KZ-TE, kung ayaw umangat ng idle when the aircon engages, one or more faulty sensors may be the culprit or worse, something in the ECU itself.
