HI sir, I own an L400 spacegear and its been working well. My question is not with my vehicle but what I saw with the new adventure. I saw the injection pump has this thing, as i really don't know what it was na nakakabit sa side ng injection pump. mayoon syang nkakabit na hose coming from the cooling system which means from the side of the engine to the injection pump. Can you tell me sir Dieseldude kung para saan ito. Does it has to do with putting the fuel temperature higher so it will burn effeciently and have alesser emission of smoke?

Hindi ako familiar sa L400 Spacegear, pero gets ko ang tinatanong mo.
This is a cold idle device, a thermal capsule which expands when water heats it. When the engine is cold, timing is advanced and idle rpm is higher than normal. As coolant temp increases, this capsule moves a lever either to retard timing a bit, or lower the idle speed, or do both functions.
nakow! ganon ba? greenish talaga siya nung isinalin namin sa black container... ginawa ko to noong nagiipitan ng diesel dito sa amin. kaya after karga sa L300 drain agad tapos salin sa container pagdating sa bahay.. 500 petot lang kasi ang max na pakarga bawat station..
sayang 40liters pa naman... dibale pang hugas hugas na lang..

May tanong ulet ako...although hindi ito about sa diesel engine kungdi ito ay tungkol sa transmission ng diesel engine ko...kahit pano konektado pa rin...hehehe...
1KZ-TE yung engine ko at A/T(Hi-ace van, subic),,,ilang liters ng ATF kaya yung kailangan ko para sa change-oil ng tranny ko..? tsaka pano ba talaga mag-check ng tamang oil level ng tranny, may nakikita kasi ako na hot and cold e? Tinesting ko na rin nung cold pa siya mataas yung oil abot sa hot, nung pinaandar ko na ng mga 5mins at konting andar tas check ko ulet yung oil level nasa cold naman...aysus! Hindi ko malaman kung baliktad o anuman...Tsaka ano nga pala yung magandang ATF yung marerecommend nyo? RP ATf?

Tinesting ko na rin nung cold pa siya mataas yung oil abot sa hot, nung pinaandar ko na ng mga 5mins at konting andar tas check ko ulet yung oil level nasa cold naman...aysus! Hindi ko malaman kung baliktad o anuman... Nag circulate na ang transmission oil mo kaya bumaba sa "cold" level. Aakyat ulit yan sa hot level kung mag wait ka mga 10 minutes with engine off. Hindi iinit ang transmission oil sa 5 mins engine run.....kelangan i-drive mo ang van with load.....approx. 30 mins. Malamang lalampas ka sa "hot" level".
Tsaka ano nga pala yung magandang ATF yung marerecommend nyo? RP ATf? Hindi ko din alam. Petron, Shell, Caltex have good ATFs. Pero dapat alam mo ang oil grade...... So try Tsikot transmission forum.

Sir kung kulay lang naman ang kinaiba compara sa diesel ng ibang known brand, no problem po yan. Ang importante ay hindi siya tampered. Kung itong diesel ay ginamit nyo na dati sa sasakyan at ok naman ang resulta ibig sabihin ok ito. Hindi po yan basta magdeteriorate ang quality except maybe sa color.
Ang kulay po ng diesel ay magkakaiba sa iba-ibang brand kasi coloring lang po ito at depende sa brand kung ano ang kanilang preference. Lahat ng diesel ay clear ang kulay sa original na refining process (base sa naobserbahan ko), kinukulayan lang ito para madaling malaman kung anong producto ( gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, etc.). Karamihan nga ng diesel na tina-transport namin from kuwait to korea clear ang kulay. Ganito din ang sa LPG, hindi color ang dinadagdag sa halip ay yung amoy (aroma). Sa original ito ay odorless (as far as I know) pero dahil gas siya at hindi makita kaya nilagyan ng amoy para malaman ang presence ng leakage to avert possibility of fire/explosion.

Try checking everything external like valve clearances, blocked air intake system. etc. But from experience, this seems to be an injection pump problem.... more specifically... the rotor head.

Already got culprit sir, nag bara yung nozzle. nilinis nung technician yung nozzle and after that it runs fine again. Thanks Doc
question lang po sir about fuel knock. ano po ang masamang epekto ng fuel knock sa makina?
nagpalinis kasi ako ng injector then after that may lumitaw na ingay. sabi ng mechanic fuel knock daw yun. kaya daw lumitaw dahil nalinis daw yung bara sa injector na medyo singaw na daw. inilagay nya sa number 1 cylinder yung nozzle para alam ko daw kung ano yung papalitan.
Mataas ang combustion pressure.....masama para sa piston, head gasket, and valves......low power na.....smoke pa.
Sometimes, naipitan ng dumi ang nozzle or na-overtorque ang installation. Kung hindi madala sa linis, replace nozzle and calibrate to correct opening pressure.

- 1998 model / 5 doors
- 2.5 TDIC
- 4D56 Engine
- Automatic
The problem:
- mahina sya humatak
- hirap sa pataas na road
- malakas sa krudo (about 4-5 km/liter)
Maintenance performed:
- changed ATF fluid
- cleaned ATF filter (El Dorado does not have the model)
- changed Fuel filter (original)
- changed Air filter (original)
My Pajero is not producing black smoke actually it barely produces smoke, and the automatic transmission is shifting fine, overdrive is also working.
As per the previous owner he had it calibrated more than a year ago and replaced the nozzles 6 months back. What do you think is causing the sluggishness and high fuel consumption?
Can you give me at least an estimate for the following job scope?
- Recheck injection pump to engine timing.
- Check and or repair turbocharger boost.
- Check and or calibrate injection pump.
- Check and or replace nozzles with original ones.
