Electronics, electronics, electronics. Even if you've replaced the ECU after a flood, many of the elctronic parts may have been damaged or compromised by the flood.
How long was it stored? This could have given trapped moisture time to corrode wiring or connections. You shouldn't store a flooded vehicle unless you've taken it apart and had everything completely dried out.
Best to have a dealership or a shop read the CEL code so you know which engine sensor is busted. If the airbag light is lit, even with a brand new ECU and cluster, then your airbag or airbag sensors have problems.
The automatic, sounds like a solenoid problem. Doesn't sound crunchy, does it?

January 25th, 2010 03:32 AM #3The shops that can only deal with this kinds of troubles are those who are fullly equipped with scan tools ,technical info and competent auto techs .
It can be dealt in a case to case basis . Once its underwater , its gonna be very difficult to fix it one shot.
Make sure to have the list of what has been done after the flooding in order for the next tech to view the history.its gonna be very costly.

it was stored for 2 months - electricals was taken out during that time
aside from ecu & instrument cluster,we also replace injector drive & 1 injector.
units runs already for a month(with check engine light&airbag)
for the a/t - no sign of crunchy sound, its whistling sound when accelerate.
thanks

February 25th, 2010 09:31 PM #5Hi,
Our Innova is encountering the same problem - - from what I understand, the ECT is broken (it's a box located beside the ECU that controls the transmission), therefore there isn't any automatic shifting functionality. When you shift to D, it actually engages third gear.
While waiting for a replacement ECT I still use our Innova - - I use L, 2 and D to shift from first, second and third gears respectively.
