I still wonder how come these things needs to be chipped for better power. shouldn't have the maker did it themselves?
still have doubts parakitoJDM?
I don't see why you can't, I even installed a intercooler in a tight space Van.
your surf could be easier, heck adding an airscoop is even very possible.
while some people even put fake airscoops.![]()
lyspid:
recived your PM... thanx! mga gaano katagal, ma-lalaman ba through dynotest ang result(before & after)?saan mura alam mo?
sir yumm...
sir alwayz,
ma init un mkina eh and mhirap dukutin un plug ng crdi nsa ilalaim ng intake manifold pg ma init kailangan careful ka tlga kc mppaso ka ng mga tubo and metal na malapit dun,,as for the shop na may mandrel bending..sa mufflerland ako nka kita ng mandrel bender..dun mo na pgwa sa knila un exhaust tubing and muffler mo...![]()
Just be careful with "chipping" or re-mapping. This is a balancing act and it is so easy to go overboard. It is very easy to get 20-30% more performance from turbo diesels, and more power becomes addicting. Just make sure you will get a proper re-map (fully tested with both short term and long term results) not the jurassic approach of just over fueling or increase in rail pressure (for CRDIs).
A quick way to find out is ask for dyno results with EGT readings or for imported ones, see if they are TUV rated (or its equivalent).
Take note all of these "chips" or piggybacks or remaps will not warranty against engine damage, they will warranty against defects/malfunctions of their products only.
And lastly, water injection as theory really works. This was my thesis when I was stil in the university. Again, one of the issues that needs to be addressed is the long term effects. Modern engines use various types of alloys for valves and valve seats. You need to make sure that the liquid mixture you are injecting does not corrode or adversely affect the internals of your engine.
Enjoy your CRDIs.
Yup. It's a balancing act. There's only so much power an engine will make safely.
For me, it's great to have the chip option, but I prefer for it to be custom mapped on the spot. Chips with set maps give wildly varying results on different cars.
Upgrade everything else first, then chip if you're not satisfied......breathing upgrades are the only "free" upgrades you have... ones that won't stress your engine more or give you other problems.
These include a new filter and intercooler fitting (there might be space for a Hilux-style top-mount on the Innova, from looking at the engine... but a front-mount is much superior) and mandrel bent down-pipes and exhaust. These should be sized and designed by someone reasonably familiar with the system... too much intercooler and you slow the intake too much...
It would be an interesting project... although one I'd like to see even more is a 3.0 D4D in the Innova...![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
based on my experience sa makina after the upgrades mas lumakas un mkina and un fuel consumption nya gumanda tumipid,,as for the first part ng mods na intake and exhaust medyo the same pa rin un power..after installing the ecu upgrade mas pumino un andar and nwala un ingay ng mkina..mas tumipid sya k sa dati..
we havent tested it on a dyno pero the usual power gains for an ecu upgrade is from 20-30hp depending on the engine it was installed.. but yuo can feel the pwer after it was installed..we intstalled it in on a d4d 3.0L hilux..0-100 takes about 12 seconds.after installing it it was down to 10seconds..we tested it a couple of times and still it has almost the same responds 0-100 10sec and up..but never the same as before 0-100 12sec...btw theres no dyno shop here in davao..dyno butt lng..hehehe..kc yuo can really feel the seat of the pants respond after the install also un fuel consumption mas tumipid..![]()
