yeah they have mineral and FS with the same name "protec ultra 15w40" same color scheme except for the cap. that's screwed up

StockEngine is right, most likely they're just the same but w/ different labels

here's the problem. Group 3 is actually mineral oil (that's highly refined) but can now be legally be called "fully synthetic"

which is different from the REAL fully-synthetic which is Group 4

thanks sir StockEngine. you enlighten us about this product. the company simply misleads consumers. the difference actually is the color of the cap of the bottle and the text FS and HIGH PERFORMANCE Oil. I am thinking however if the ardeca Belgium knows how their products being sold here or this is just pinoy way of business strategy. knowing some shrewd businessmen doing business in our country.

actually lahat naman napepeke ngayon better purchase your oil to your trusted auto supply dealer not just defending on their prices. Not all cheap prices are bad but majority of it had questionable quality better do some research if you choose to try new product. [emoji16]

Not in any way connected with Ardeca, but this may explain the various discrepancies noted:

VROMAN NV AS A PRIVATE LABEL SPECIALIST
Our company is experienced in filling private label motor oil brands which are offered all over the world. Our private labels are sold for each type of customer: local garage chain, auto parts dealers, transport companies, constructors, agriculture and retail distributors. Basically all types of lubricants for a wide range of applications are available for setting up private label. Our more than 25 year experience of filling motor oils for different brands guarantees our flexible position in the world of lubricants. The customer is able to select an own product range with high quality oils inside the product in different packaging sizes. In order to meet the requirements of car manufacturers, each product is carefully analyzed and developed in laboratories with the biggest care.

    Packaging

Our constant customer focus has led us to optimized the packaging to make handling for the end-user as easy and safe as possible. Different types of packaging are available for quantities 1L can, 2L can, 4L can, 5L can, 20L can, 25L can, 60L drum, 210L drum and IBC container. The different can types and caps are always available on stock. The type of packaging is key for the look of your own brand and the distinction on the market.

    Look and feel

Together with our graphic department, a customized design could be made in order to fulfill the client’s wants and needs. Different cans, caps, barrels in different colors are available. The development of private label is a cooperation between Vroman NV and the customer.
Maybe the local (or regional) distributor has requested the changes, and to save on graphics cost has just used the same templates. Although of courese if I were Ardeca I may advise against the practice as this may lead to confusion, as was happening here.

    Another interesting read:

Trial by torture... Ardeca Lubricants on the track and street!

In this case, I used a year's worth of 30,000 km of mileage to truly push the limits and yet the oil has performed very well being limited to a large degree by dirt which I believe is the result of a dirty air filter. Owing it to this being a non ester core oil, it was expected that the oil would shear down which is seen in the TBN dropping to about 2.5. I had expected a recommendation to reduce oil change intervals to 20,000 to 25,000 km but looks like even 30,000 km seems fine for this oil as suggested by the good people of Blackstone.

that's NOT a private labeling issue

private labeling is e.g. honda buying idemitsu oil and labeling it as honda

in this case it is already the original manufacturer that's doing the product naming. and is not doing a good job at it LOL

I understand that. What I'm saying is that the regional, or local, distributor may have requested the change, so it's still Ardeca. Maybe instead of creating or naming another variant of full synthetic oil, they just extended the mineral oil variant to have its synthetic line. Again, these are just pure speculation on my part.
